Brum didn;t make the most of their home advantage as they invited pressure in the early stages of the game. This suited the away side and their possession based setup. The home side's defence proved strong but eventually the pressure and Chelsea's quality told, with Mbappe making the breakthrough. The home side's creativity came through their wingers but they struggled to find them high enough up the pitch and so they weren't operating in dangerous enough areas. Chelsea went in looking good value for their lead.
After the break things played out differently as Brum took the game to Chelsea and it was a far closer half. Chelsea found it more difficult to build attacks and when Brum did win the ball high up the park their attackers were able to get at Chelsea quickly and they pulled level. With things level, Brum's subs actually made more of a difference but Chelsea ultimately just had enough to steal a win.
