Peaky Blinders
Blue Planet
Killing Eve
Wolf Hall
Line Of Duty...
This without even really trying, and without mentioning the excellent imported drama shown on BBC4, Or the music documentaries shown there. Or the science and history documentaries. Or 6 music!
I probably use the BBC more in a week than ITV, Ch 4 and Ch 5 in a year combined.
The licence fee is incredible value for money.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing is free.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Itv is free
----------------------------------------------------------------------
& fack-awful in the main...
Does anyone watch adverts these days...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who even watches TV?
Peaky Blinders is class to be fair.
Amazon smashed it out the park with Good Omens.
Mostly on YouTube these days. And I probably listen to audio more than watch stuff.
You can get live streams that last like 4 hrs and I need those to get through work

With the technology that exists today it should be optional, not compulsory, but free to over 75’s on a means tested basis (a large proportion of them hold a lot more disposal cash than younger generations). My TV viewing is largely Sky Sports, Netflix and YouTube. Occasionally listen to 6 Music, occasionally watch a BBC show like Line of Duty, use BBC News app. I could easily live without those things of ot meant not paying this stealth tax. It’s not the money, it’s the principle. Most of their output is PC agenda driven garbage aimed at pansies and the right-on brigade. Like most large state funded organisations they are very adept and pouring public money down the drain.

Just because you're over 75

Think you’re confusing me with Sandy. I’m 38.

Not Compulsory
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good news - it is optional.
SIR DAVID ATTENBOROUGH - Nuff Said.
Funds might go towards the BBC from it but it is not a BBC TV licence.
The option is watching programmes through a device as they are broadcast in real-time to the public or choosing to watch on catch up with the exception of BBC iplayer.
I don't watch the peedooo channel anyway , if anything them fackers should pay us due to the bollix they broadcast.
I don't pay it as soon as they knock my door and ask if I have a TV I tell them I don't feel obligated to answer that question and close the door.
Only thing I watch regularly on BBC is MOD and to be honest, can easily live without that, given I have Sky Sports and BT Sports for virtually every game worth seeing, and live.
Easy solution is for TV manufacturers to bring in a channel block option on all TV's, so you can choose to close down BBC 1/2 thereby negating the need to pay for a licence.
Simple.

Don't watch much TV, but if I do it is usually the beeb, with shows like Have I got News for you, Mock the week, and sometimes Panorama
I do pay licence fee as I do enjoy Beeb's programs and appreciate how much these program can cost
Not paying for BBC is not an option. What do you expect them to do, provide you with enjoyment for free? That would be modern day slavery and this group has suffered enough in the past. You can shove the BBC up yer arrse, but you have to pay for it.
Or am I thinking of a different kind of BBC?

after the thousands upon thousands of boring inane nonsense you come out with this was mildly funny
As a Pensioner, I am completely split on the decision to take away the free licence for over 75s. On the one hand it is such a paltry sum of money, that does it really kill the BBC to give pensioners this benefit. On the other hand, I know lots of pensioners that are sitting in three-quarter of a million pound houses, regularly go on cruises, have a golf club membership costing thousands, so why cannot they pay for their TV Licence? I would have no problem paying for my TV licence when I reach 75 in three or four years time. The free bus pass is a different thing, lots of old people neither drive or no longer drive, so it is essential that they are given this pass to allow them access to public transport and a means of getting out and about.
Its less than 50p a day, very odd that anybody finds that excessive?
As others have said making programmes costs money.
It should just be means tested for pensioners. At the moment many pensioners are far wealthier than younger generations
Pensioners or in fact anyone below a certain level of wealth or income should get it free

Maybe, doesn't mean that many +75s are currently better off than younger folks and should pay if they can afford it.
