Has Ed Woodward failed?

(I suggest you take the babyen approach if you want to ensure that this thread is successful.)

Of course he has failed. The club has been remarkably unsuccessful and delivered dreadful ROI on its lavish investments since 'super' Ed took over. He is responsible for the managerial appointments, okaying the players we have bought and the wages we have paid them, and (in the absence of a DoF - again, his decision) for the overall coherence of our investment and technical sporting strategy.

I asked a certain other poster this one.

...................

'Other clubs are also catching up to us on the commercial side as well.'

.............................

Are they?

........................

It should come as no surprise that the other poster didn't answer that question. Not even with a question of his own.

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Definitely.

If it were true then Ed is a bigger failure than we all think he is.

We have a massive financial advantage if we were able to use it correctly.

Greatteams - good comments. Better than some of our fans!

Red Russian - you are correct although I suspect he won't come on here. It's amazing how anyone can see anything other than failure these last six years.

The most accurate and succinct answer to this question has already been given by Stan Collymore:

"Ed Woodward is not fit for purpose at Manchester United and his business model is doomed to fail."

Not for the first time Stan hits it right on the head.

We do need better. So glad the season is over and there's a break from football now.

I'm intrigued about what Collymore (who I like a pundit) knows about Woodwards business model and also, is it actually Woodwards?

................

I would be a shock to me if Ed has a business model regarding the football side of the club.

The very fact that his own right hand man has a background on Finance and Economics suggest not.

Evidence of the last six years suggest that if there is a plan it is a Baldrick plan.

That's what Stan was getting at in the article with the same title.

He and his team just don't understand the game well enough to manage the technical side of the business.

I haven't seen Stan's article so can't comment on it.

'He and his team just don't understand the game well enough to manage the technical side of the business.'

I think we only have one nincompoop on our board who can't see this.

You'd think a smart businessman like Ed or the Glazers would have realised by now that the best people qualified to make footballing decisions are footballing people. It's crazy that they think they don't require that expertise!

Unfortunately, I get the impression that Ed thinks he already has it.

How many questions has RDD asked?

We need Ed out banners at OT as well as flying a plane with an Ed out banner. Flying of a plane always helps.

Ed’s pug looking face infuriates me.

Rosso - you're probably right there! FFS

Irish - none on this thread

CiC - Ed would probably get them sponsored with an Asian potato partner or something.

Ed the King - that's the least of my worries with him!

His clueless, smug, pug looking face symbolises everything about him for me.

Even better, I could buy those potatoes and show my support.
