Can't really argue. We need all 5 and, while my first thought was that CB should be higher, I couldn't think what it should be above. So, in short, CB is fifth priority, but a higher fifth than you've got

I don’t think 5 more is that unrealistic either if we can ship a few.

Lukaku’s recent comments would suggest he’s off and we should get a decent fee.

Like the look of that Pepe lad from Lille if Rom hopefully buggers off. Means we could play a pretty fluid front three.

A right back, a CM and a CB are an absolute must this window if we want any chance next season.

Looks like Bayern or Liverpool for Pepe I’m afraid

I've heard this stuff about Pepe to Liverpool and I don't think I buy it.

Will Pepe be happy to sit on the bench until Salah is injured or they need him for an FA Cup tie in Doncaster?

Bayern is more understandable.

I think a CB, DM, RB and RW or RW/F (what ever you want to call it) are of equal priority.

If Bailly could keep fit and recapture his form I'd agree with you on the CB thing. I think we could cope with what we have. Realistically he probably won't which means we have to play Jones and Smalling quite a bit with Lindelof or even both when the Swede isnt fit.

Agree with this. The entire right hand side of the team and two centre midfielders are the key positions. CB is needed but less so than the others in my view.

I’m really keen to see Gomes, Greenwood, Chong & Tuanzebe in pre-season. One or two of them could be regular match-day squad players quite easily in my view. That injection of young talent from the academy could also help matters.

The problem is we have so many issues in the squad that many are equal priority. What’s available in the market, what players we can move on (whether reluctantly or as a matter of choice) and how ready some of the academy players are to take on more responsibility in the squad, makes it a difficult summer for us.

Mohamed Bouhafsi who is as reliable as they come said Liverpool are front runners but it’s not close yet.

We won’t sign Pepe, Sancho will be the one next summer.

All 5 would be nice possibly 2 midfielders if pogba goes but cant sse it being done in 1 window. Agree re CB as if our midfield could actually keep hold of the ball and push teams back less pressure would be on the back 4. Marquinuis from PSG if de lift goes there might be a shout

You really do need to stop going on about wingers the same nationality as you Dazza. It's getting boring now...

i personally think a cdm is the top priority. One of our biggest problem was that our decent but not great cbs were often exposed by the midfield. A combination of pogba being unwillingly to cover and matic being useless meant only our b2b provided a useful line of defence.herrera>mct>fred all did a job when on form but when out of form we were terribly exposed.

as per my username and despite sounding like a broken record I will say weigl will be perfect for us. He is basically a young german carrick, who is better under pressure

If we were to end up playing how I'd like to see us playing, I'd say:

1. B2B CM
2. RB
3. CB
4. CF
5. DM

While I agree with the Op, I don't think we will get them all done this summer.

CM, RB and DM are the positions I'd prioritise for now. The loss of Herrera, the decline of Matic, and the disappointment of Fred make rebuilding the CM a priority. And RB, well, even if we don't get AWB, we need someone to come in. Dalot is decent going forward but he's not ready to be first choice at a side with out goals right now. And there's nothing more to add to what has been said about Young.

I think RW will be delayed until next summer and James will be given a chance to play there. He has played RW, lw and as a forward. He may be for the future but I think we'll see a lot more from him this coming season.

CB, other than Alderweireld, most of the prices are insane. Maguire for the price quoted won't make our defence significantly stronger and as a Lukaku sort of feel to it. I'd actually advocate for Toby as a short term signing if we're definitely going to recruit a CB. It's give us something short term and we'd have some time to see if Bailey and Tuanzebe develop before splashing big cash on anyone.

We have to remember that this isn't a quick fix. It will take time to get things right, but as long as we have a plan, a style of play and have players to suit, believe and work hard for it, we will do better.
