I would say Rodgers is similar to Klopp (though Klopp has changed/adapted since he first took over at Liverpool). He wasn't good with signings, but I have no idea if that was all on him. Did he choose Mario or was Mario forced upon him?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mario was forced on him on the basis that he got the Lovren, Lallana & Lambert at the time. But that's not confirmed...just rumours from sources close to the club.

It was always a conflict of targets when Rodgers was involved. He accepted targets from the likes of Edwards (who was like a scout back then) if they also bought his own preferred choices. It's why our transfer business was always so hit and miss.

All hearsay though

Fellaini was one of Eds biggest mess up. Dithering cost us 5 million for an average player.

The botttom line is he shouldn't have been bought.

Jose wanted Perisic. In hindsight, we get him, we probably don't get Sanchez. But that may also mean we lose Martial.

That's just one example there.

i dont think he should not have been bought, but not for the price, he had a very decent spell at Everton.

Fellaini isnt the best player going, but he was a different option which at times saved us.

the fact he was used so often was the issue

Sadly Woodward ain't going anywhere soon, but surely the vast majority of United fans are aware he needs to go?

Is it not possible to get the vast majority of our fans to show their anger at the Chelsea game? Surely he'll be at the game and so too might a Glazer, get the fans chanting for him to be sacked, get banners made, make it clear we don't want him. Apart from the plane banner a while back has it really been make publicly clear that the fans aren't happy?

If this season goes badly again then things will start to change. The atmosphere will turn ugly. We were even singing anti Woodward songs against Cardiff. He was there. He heard us.

This summer is the last chance he doesn't really deserve but he's going to get. If he fails us again I don't see how anyone can carry on supporting this regime.

Ole worth noting Ole stated a few times he wants his signing male early hours n the window.

I'm sure every manager wants this but he did so publicly.

Moyes word, not mine

And I don't believe you did counter them.

Regarding Real's early business, I read the reason is simply down to FFP and signings before July are classed as 18/19 transfers so don't effect FFP for this coming season. Meaning after July they can start spending as of 19/20 and whatever FFP restrictions that brings.

Not sure if that works the same for us?

Just rumours. Unless you have Jose saying he wanted Perisic.

He was very effective for us and was treated shockingly by some of our 'fans'

If it works that way for them then yes, it does for all clubs.

How much did we spend last summer, £70m?

You'd think if that were the case we'd be getting some deals in early.

As in how much we can spend with FFP restrictions, it hasn't ever seemed to be an issue in the past for us. Real on the other hand seem to want to spend big this summer, hence why they are getting these early deals in as well as being able to start afresh from next month.

I'm sure we'll hope to get a few transfers in but I don't think we are planning on spending the kind of money Real might end up doing by the end of the summer.

I thought all clubs can only register their signings on 1 July?

To be fair, Real haven't spent this big in a long time. The pretty much came out with a 0 net spend last summer and made huge profits on sales in 17/18.

They've not spent more than a £50m net spend since 13/14 (which was onlyl a £55m net spend tbf).

They've been planning for this, clearly.

I agree, this is because whilst they've maintained their squad and been successful, we have failed to improve ours whilst spending £500m.

If you look at all the big clubs in Europe, we are by far the worst ran.

Can anyone think of some good contractual business Ed and his equally inept sidekick have done on behalf of our club.

I can only think of bad. Moyes, Rooney, Jose, Sanchez, Young, Jones, end then letting contracts run down of players we should keep.

The football served up by LVG and Jose made you want to fall asleep, it was an appropriate partnership.

I can even remember going to OT in my early twenties and buying a Manchester United Steak Pie.

The money we pull in from this kind of stuff is staggering.'

It is the same over here with the Washington Redskins. Every product imaginable is an "Official Sponsor of the Washington Redskins". Even bog roll, which is apt as the Redskins are crap.
