i'd feel better if it was spurs that were after kalvin, they don't sign anyone.
The difference is, Villa had money, indeed they spent about 17mil in the summer.
We didn’t have money last summer and had to sell, we’ve even less money now.
Point taken Jonty.
But at some point we have to kick the cycle of sell & start again each summer.
👍🏽
Then the owner needs to have a rethink regarding our expenses and that means a rethink regarding our recruiting policy.
problem with our recruiting policy is Ortas left in charge of it. We have very few players who could command a decent fee at the moment other than Philips,Roofe and Pontus. Anyone who thinks we will get 15million for Clarke is seriously deluded.Be lucky to get 3m for him i reckon but if he starts next season as in the form he showed in his first few games then the price will rise but would need to be something really special to get anywhere near 15m mark We have a lot of deadwood floating around at the moment costing us a fortune in wages that will be hard to shift but if we were lucky we could scrape back a few million on them, these are all thanks to Ortas recruiting policy. Wish we could transfer him

This is a bit of a falsehood, no? Villa were not in a good financial position for most of last summer, if I recall correctly. It was only after they were bought/invested in by new owners that they were suddenly able to spend.
Grealish had been linked away all summer (even going back to the January before if memory serves) and didn't sell, even when in financial dire straits.
i would rather go into the new season with the same team as last year than to sell our best players to buy other players that aren't as good. whats the point of that?
there are many things we could improve on while having the same team.
the most important thing for this season we've already done, keeping bielsa.
We were 45 mins from Wembley, we dont need to sell anyone, we just need a few extra numbers to coincide with injuries and suspensions that we were riddled with even as early as October. Just need to be like Derby and Villa and nail the loan market.
VOF, it doesn’t grow on trees, the club unfortunately need to finance new players.
That’s what happens when you fail in January.
KP the one to go for me
You'd like to think with Bielsa having had a full season to view opposition players, his scouts have been watching other leagues that he will be giving Orta a list instead of Orta presenting him with players

pro, do you not think that somewhere along the line last season we couldn't have got a couple of sitters that would have made the difference between third or second. just don't think we should sell unless the player wants out.

Yes but seen as you aren't a real Leeds fan I don't really see how your input matters?
Absolutely need to keep Phillips.

yeah but saiz was useless
Promotion 2018 always seems to have a different view to all other Leeds fans! We must NOT sell Phillips.
I think Pro needs to update his name - to 2019.
I think Pro should change his name to "give us a clue!."
As for the Bielsa/Orta thing, I'd like to think Bielsa only agreed to stay on with certain guarantees and the main one was he has full control over the comings and goings off the first team, if he has that than Phillips shouldn't be going anywhere fast!..
Mont, believe it or it is actually possible to buy decent players capable of getting promotion. I know our record is poor. Just look at sheffu and Norwich.
Of course we should have got promoted once we got to January. Unfortunately the club failed off and then on the pitch.
Chances like that have to be taken, it could be a very long wait for the next chance.

i agree with you pro. but we shouldn't have to sell to buy.
Not concerned one little bit that Phillips will be going, despite what others think, regardless of who bids what, Kalvin will only go if Villa go in hard and Radz proves someone on here right, Bates with an Italian accent.
I am though concerned about the future of Roofe and others on short contracts, unlike Kal they do not have Leeds in their DNA.
Reckon two or three will be sold this summer, KP not one of them.
I'll say what I keep saying, hope they don't sell KP.
Under MB he's become the player Redders kept telling us he was capable of being. And if he stays under MB, he'll only get better.
Its not who goes but who comes in people should be looking at!..
I know, difficult when we have no clue who or what!..
But surely Bielsa and co know about any interest there may be and in which players, so there is a bit off a possibility that he and co are already looking at replacements!..
Its a case of hoping the best stay and praying improvements in what are going is made!..
i think its far more important who we keep than who we get. we had a good season last year no reason to start all over again by getting rid of established players.
we must be able to afford some little known gems that bielsa can work his magic on.
Mont, I agree, unfortunately the owners are skint.
