Out of interest, which two young players do you propose to replace our double golden boot winner, player of the year winner and scorer of 71 goals in two season?

Because they must be two pretty special young players

------

To be honest, I don't know for sure. However, what percentage of total Liverpool's goals has Salah scored in that two year period compared to other seasons should give you a clue whether Liverpool as team creating/scoring goals or Salah alone scoring. It's all about perception these days rather than facts, isn't it?

Perception, fact, percentages - none of it really matters.

What matters is that Salah fits the way Liverpool play and is part of a hugely effective attacking line up. If you remove him from that then he needs to be replaced or Liverpool become worse. Which comes back to the original question; how do you replace him with two young players?

Cashing in on your assets is a strategy that rarely works in football.

PSG should sell Mbappe. Form is temporary.

Lets sell salah to buy 2 young players who probably wont be as effective and... ugh.. why bother

We should sell Vvd while his stock is high

Yep, let's cash in on everyone. That's what football is about isn't it? Not this romantic notion of having a good team on the pitch.

I think Salah would like to try his hand at Real or Barca, let’s face it most players do. But anyone who buys him will probably have to break the world record transfer fee.

Klopps proved he can sell good players and replace them. I would be more worried if another team was trying to get Klopp.

Why would Salah want to go to either of those teams, we’re better than both of them?

We don’t need money. We are loaded.

People look at the coutinho for vvd and Alison and think every club should cash in on their prize asset.

While coutinho was probably our best player at the time, in many ways he was I'll suited to our style of play. Plus we had huge problems elsewhere on the pitch that needed rectifying.

Salah is ideal for us and we do not have those obvious problems now. Our purchases from now on are going to be incremental improvements. A slightly better back up striker, an option as back up for left back etc. In those circumstances the risk of failing to replace Salah aren't matched by the potential benefits from the 2 or 3 purchases we make from it.

I actually would be more upset if we sold Mane. I feel that Klopp and the style of play gets the maximum out of Mo. I feel we would cope if he were moved on, but at this juncture, there is no need.

Coutinho wasnt ill suited to our style of play at all. He would be excellent in our current side. With the added stability of our defence, keeper and defensive midfielder.

That just sounds to me like Liverpool, are making a statement to Madrid.
Liverpool FC are the A- side.. for now.
They can play Jonny big balls to anyone. And who better to stick 2 fingers up at than Real Madrid.
If that’s the case, fair play.
Salah has shown he’s no flash in the pan, Liverpool hold all the cards now.
But UTD will rise again to rip the heart and soul out of LFC.
And That’s a damn stone cold fact!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This actually started out as a decent post until the last couple of lines.

Still, half of a decent post is the best I've ever seen from StringerBell on this site so it's a start at least.

God knows mate, we are a better team, but the draw for players with no real attachment to the UK is there. Coutinho couldn’t wait, Suarez couldn’t wait. It’s no biggie now because I think Klopp would find a suitable replacement.

They have proved me wrong, but to be fair they have also learnt from mistakes made early on and also put more money in once they found a manager they trusted. The extra cash for player like VVD is crucial.

The foundations they built at the start are why we have been able to spend more money. They couldn't have spent that amount in the past due to FFP but put the foundations in place so that they could in future.
