Depending on what kind of seasons they have next time out, could also see Guendouzi and, or Torreira gain big price tags by summer 2020.
We can be self sustaining without always selling our Crown Jewels of course. Problem being at the moments we’re more Ratner’s than Harrods.
I think it speaks volumes about where we're at that we are pinning our hopes on a 19-year old to have an outstanding breakthrough season so we can cash in on him. Never thought it would have come to this, but it is what it is.
I think you are right, though. We will be hoping he can play really well so he can command a huge fee and therefore we reinvest that money in other areas of the squad.
I am just hoping, if it does come to this, we sell him to a club abroad. Coutinho and Suarez both went to Barcelona with contrasting levels of success, but Sterling went to Man City and we've seen him take his game to another level.
On one hand, I'd hate to see Nelson go to City or United and end up thriving in the same domestic league.
With that being said, any offer in excess of £50m and we need to 100% seriously think about selling. If it's a Premier League club that wants him, we should demand a higher fee considering his age, nationality and potential. I wouldn't want to see him go to a domestic rival, but if the offer is too good to refuse, then hey ho.
It's just a shame that the most promising batch of Hale End academy players we've produced has coincided with our worst league finishes and dire financial situation.
Guendouzi to PSG could be a thing in a season or two if he does well.
‘It's just a shame that the most promising batch of Hale End academy players we've produced has coincided with our worst league finishes and dire financial situation.’
Not necessarily. In fact it could turn out the timing was perfect.
Of course we may also have this Martinelli. If he does well it ticks a lot of boxes for Real Madrid...
Have to also remember the role of the Academy isn’t to produce just one generation of quality players, but to consistently churn out young players capable of either making the step up to the first team, or at least helping generate money to invest in it.
Look at Reine-Adelaide and Bennacer as two recent examples of young players we basically gave away, who are both, only a short time later, being linked to big money moves elsewhere.

What I mean is it would have been nice to see academy players break through the ranks and become starters for us. If the likes of Saka, Nelson, ESR etc fulfil their undoubted potential, we could be losing out on some real top players if/when we sell them.
It also completely depends on if we reinvest that money wisely, or whether we spunk it up the wall on Xhakas and Mustafis.
Even if you look at our last transfer window. Sokratis has been ok, Guendouzi looks promising but burnt out, Torreira was good then burnt out, Leno improved as the season went by and Lichtsteiner was a disaster (albeit a free transfer).
Right now, even under the new regime, our track record is a mixed bag.
We need to get it right if we command big fees for these players.
The worrying thing for me is the guys behind the scenes who’ve been involved with our recent transfer dealings (and failings) have been promoted rather than replaced.
Also slightly concerning when you have Raul and Vinnie saying how important the Academy players will be for us, yet have Bielik saying no one’s told him what the plan is for him next season.
Arse meet elbow?
They promised Arsenal fans if the stadium paid up to compete in the Premier League. Now we pray that a youngster eventually come good to sell him at a high price.
What a joke club Arsenal has become under Kroenke.
Embarrassing.
The stadium still has a long time before it is paid up.
Good to see Bielik with a MotM goalscoring performance in the Euro u21s
Yeah that is where we're at sadly, not only do we need to ship all the overpaid dross we also need some incredible talent to emerge just so we can cash in.
I wouldn't mind that at all without context but the painful part is we had everything in place (huge cash reserves, CL football) then facked it up during the Wenger and Gazidis clown show
Get Walcott and the Willock triplets back

Arsenelbow, the new name for the club.
You need to take into account that Arsenal are utter crap at any negotiations which is why we pay more for the quality of players we buy and sell for less than players are worth, if we get anything at all.
