Look at him. All over the place, up, down, who knows what you'll get.
The other day he made a considered point about football.
It hurts the heart AND head sometimes.
I'm more embarrassed at times by the fans representing the club.
Yes, his behaviour is a bit childish to me but, if it's not affecting his training/play on the pitch, then it's none of my business what he gets up to as long as it's within the law. Also, at least we know where he is when he posts this stuff so journos will also know and he'll have to be on pretty good behaviour in public in that case knowing they're about.
I think most fans could live with Lingards social media stuff if he was any use on the pitch.

If a prime Rooney back in the day was always on social media people would be saying 'what a great guy having fun'.
For an old codger like me who doesn't care much for twatbook or Instagram etc, I am glad there isn't a permanent record of the idiotic kind of crap I got up to after a shed full of beer. It would really be embarrassing now if I had to look back on it.

This whole anti-Lingard thing is mainly a manifestation of middle-aged people venting their prejudices against millennials and the mix of anger and fear they feel when they experience the alien territory of social media dominated by a younger generation.

He is representing Manchester as a player to begin with but even doubly so considering he's from the academy. He has an obligation in my opinion to not do things that risk embarrassing either himself or by extension his club out of respect for his club. If I was in his shoes, that's how I would act because it's about being respectful and professional. I don't understand how he's as weird and immature as he is but if he is, then he needs to this kind of thing privately and not bring his own public image and the club's into it. It's not a catastrophic, omg Man Utd are going to go under kind of deal, but it's a relatively smaller thing that can be easily corrected.

Prime Rooney was whacking it up grannies, p!ssing in the street, setting fire to money and getting sparked out on social media.
Helps if you score a couple of hundred goals though.

I'm happy as well though that there were no camera phones when I was young and stupid. That has saved me a whole load of embarrassment!

Grannies - glad there's no footage
p!ssing - see above
fire to money - KLF did that. Old hat!
Sparked out - he was way past his prime then!
Rooney swearing down the camera was good.
Slating England fans on national telly was a corker.
I have lost count how many times i have cringed at Lingard down the years, but what exactly is wrong with that video? He's on holiday with his mates having a laugh. You probably see similar video's on almost every 'lads' holiday for people in their teens and 20's.
(obviously i'm assuming that the video in question is the one in his hotel)
If he's going to be reprimanded for that players may as well be trained into how to turn into robots in the public eye.
Even the name of his clothing line is cringe.

Trademarked bud.
You owe me a quid.
Lingard is not remotely united quality, period.
Needs to be told to buģģer off on that basis alone.
Highly debatable whether he is even epl quality, that he is even present is merely indicative of the awful state the club is in
I can't be annoyed at this video because I haven't seen it, nor do I have the means (assuming it's instagram) or desire to view it.
It's almost as if I've stumbled across the perfect solution: just don't follow the players' social media or watch the videos.
Surely not so hard?
None of the pitchfork brigade has answered the point that a few of us made about the fact that club itself profits from (and boasts to shareholders about) its social media presence. There's good reason to believe that Lingard's employer sees his Instagram activities as an asset. The world has changed. People don't go around wearing club blazers. It's hilarious seeing people getting upset about this. Particularly those who deep down aren't really upset about his social media but hate him so much as a player that they need another way to channel that hate when there's no football on.
I wish players were more like they were in the 80s... proper men who didn't do anything cringey
