"They came very close. We believe they deserved to go up so we have absolute confidence in the squad, but as always we're looking for opportunities to strengthen. If those opportunities come along we'll take them."

Did you miss that bit Don?

we'll have to see if they take them. opportunities that is. haven't lately.
oh sh!t i'm becoming cynical.

If the owners don't invest in better players and a bigger squad, we'll be on thos site this time next year talking about the 2021 championship fixture list

Diaz had slipped down the pecking order and at 22 highly unlikely to make an impact, Struijk, Halme, Berardi, Phillips, Ayling, Pontus, Coops, it's a long list.
Beyond Cooper and Pontus we have limited options but Diaz wasn't the answer.
Doubt Forshaw will move on.

Kinnear has said confident in squad not looking for signings.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where did he say that?

I’ll ask again. Where did he say that?

Shame about Diaz, there looked to be a player in there he’s just a year or two too old.

He can be proud of what he achieved with the u23’s

Another Orta signing come and gone.

Kinnear definitely should have said we have loads to spend, looking to pay over the odds so any club we may talk to, definitely jack up your prices!

We have been here too many times to recall!
Neither a pot to pi$$ in, or a window to throw it out of! You couldn't make it up!

JLA.. I’d of preferred him to say ‘our squad is rubbish, we’re guna spend spend spend” would of been great for team morale

At least someone gets it and doesn’t excuse the constant downplaying if expectations whilst having wasted shed loads of money.

I think the likes of AR and AK have had a relatively easy ride after a monumental fook up in January not to strengthen our squad for the final promotion push as any logical thinking studier of past trends of promoted teams would do so, but not us.

With that in mind and taking into account the 15 years and counting since we last were in the Premiership hopefully you'll forgive me for being suspicious and questioning of the sorts of statement Kinnear has put forward here.

totally agree with that Rob, can't help but be suspicious - but the article isn't anything to be crying over just yet.

whilst I'm a little suspicious, actually kind of half agree with Jonty in a post from yesterday, I trust MB.. and if he's happy, I'm happy (for now )

What Kinnear has done in his interview is to downplay expectations if spending and to set MB up by saying he knows exactly what he needs to go up, it’s very easy to later on say, if we don’t go up, well MB had everything he needed but couldn’t do it.

How hard is it to say:

“We had a great season, better than we’d hoped for so we’re really well set to get promoted this season, that is our goal. We have full confidence in Marcelo and his commitment to another year hopefully shows he has full confidence in the players and the board thatvare here to support him. We’ve worked hard to identify what we can do to improve our chances this season both with existing resources and resources that will add to what we already have both in terms of support infrastructure and players. We guarantee to the fans that we’ll be trying our best to be pro active and put the things needed in place before our trip to Australia. Thank you for support so far, this season coming wont be easy, but with your support through the ups and downs we are going to do our best to get promoted this year!’

to be fair mate, you'd of somehow found a way to pour cold water on that statement if he'd of said it.

Mate, I'm not having a pop at you, but you would of, others would too, even me - stop being so sensitive.. its even on this thread.

Stoopo you’ve been around the block enough times to know better.

Squad deserved to go up (they didn’t)
Have every confidence they’ll do it again and even better (Bielsa has said otherwise)
Always looking to strengthen (yeah right)
No mention of specifically strengthening just usual ‘if opportunity comes we’ll take it’ blah blah blah

"bla, bla, bla's" and "yeah rights" to comments not dissimilar to your versions.

stop being a little wuss mate, its not personal FFS

But it is personal and you do it all the time, forever making snide comments.

posted on 21/6/19

you're wrong.. totally wrong... This morning alone I've agreed with you on another thread and had a good natured post to you, today and over the lats week or so, which you didn't acknowledge.

Its your nature to be suspicious and negative isn't it? - so I said "you'll find a way of pouring cold water on it"

its not personal at all.. I like your point of view, but I'm going to change my bantz with you because that's my nature..

Nothing snide being posted at all. just attempts to offer a differing opinion to you, but in a light hearted way is what I read.

Snide is saying others don't get the bigger picture unlike you, hinting that they're thick or unable to grasp what's going on. That's snide/conceited. They do get it, just maybe a little more hopeful or optimistic. It's perception of how things are at the end of the day.

I'm not sure anyone is completely trusting of any owner or exec within the club these days. We all want actions not words.

Agree with much of what you say Jonty but didn't see that as a snide comment.sorry.

Snide is little comments all the time left in a way that shows that the rest of what was said was just a vehicle for getting the dig in, does it all the time.

Why on earth would I disagree with a comment I have said is the dirt if thing I want the club to be saying. It’s just the usual having a dig when others are trying to have a discussion.

its really not Jonty...

can we draw a line under this and move on? - accept my answer of not being snide.. and continue to debate Leeds United and football?

thanks VOF and Rob by the way, much appreciated
