“If we left the EU, we would end this sterile debate, and we would have to recognise that most of our problems are not caused by ‘Bwussels’*, but by chronic British short-termism, inadequate management, sloth, low skills, a culture of easy gratification and underinvestment in both human and physical capital and infrastructure.”

“Why are we still, person for person, so much less productive than the Germans? That is now a question more than a century old, and the answer is nothing to do with the EU. In or out of the EU, we must have a clear vision of how we are going to be competitive in a global economy.”

Mr Johnson warned that there might be a risk that international companies could stop investing in Britain if we left the EU. He also cautioned that UK firms could be put at a “long-term disadvantage” if Britain was unable to “influence the standards and regulations in Brussels.”

There was also an argument, alerted Mr Johnson, that the EU, “is better placed to strike trade deals with the US, or China, than the UK on its own”

Clearly a strong "Brexiteer".

All the brexiteers sticking to Boris and voting him in, like a glue, the man who lied to them about the £320m sent to Europe every week and they are STILL voting for him.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gross amount sent to the EU is around £376m/week. Net is more than £220m every week.
And you don't see anything wrong with this?

What do we get in return? Trade. For which we even have a huge deficit with the bloc.

Just can't understand how Remainers think.
It's like they don't love this country and would rather see it destroyed.

https://fullfact.org/europe/our-eu-membership-fee-55-million/

After the rebate we paid roughly £250m a week before you even include the £4billion we got back from EU projects.

We're still net contributors of course but I trust the EU to spend the £4billion on those who need it more than this government ever would.

You already have sections of the country demanding the government replaces the EU payments once we leave, of which they have no obligation to do.

================

What's the gross amount coming into this country from, Europe?

The CBI estimates that the net benefit of EU membership is worth 4-5% of GDP to the UK, or £62bn-£78bn per year.

That's the figure they won't plaster on buses

They are more worried about a coalition with SNP and Lib Dems if Labour decide to became a remain party. At the moment Labour are unelectable with this half way house leadership.

This is inaccurate. The UK has a trade deficit (in goods) with most of it's trading partners.

Simply because we are a service based economy. Our surplus in services (especially financial services) significantly covers our shortfall in goods and commodities.

In regard to EU budgetary contributions it equates to less around 0.36% of total government expenditure. Look at the back of your annual tax return.

Which provides membership of the largest and most advanced/integrated trading blocs in human history, (CU & SM).

As well as the 44 EU agencies and intuitions, Plus 40+ FTAs across the world and hundreds of preferential agreements providing access to international markets.

It’s depressing that three years on there are people still trying to make an economic argument for leaving the EU.
