Players or Director ?

I would accept the squad anyway, it's not awful and plenty of youngsters to promote. I'm not expecting us to be winning any trophies;

Yes, I think I would. Something needs to change within the structure of the footballing side of the club. Whilst Ed seems to be an asset from a commercial perspective, his ego needs to allow him to step back from the football side of things. There needs to be a 'philosophy' which needs to be set and implemented by a DoF. I believe fans would be patient if they saw that there was a plan

Not sure how wed understand what the plan was. Clubs don't tend to announce their philosophy

There shouldn't need to be a choice.

The actions off the pitch and on it usually paint a pretty clear picture of the plan.

You do realize what you’ve started GT?
Question time imminent

In a hypothetical world the yes I would. A club like United shouldn't really have to be making a choice. It should always strive for the best outcome always.

Yes.

If Ole is the right man then he will need a season to decide whether the players can fit into his system or not.

Seeing as this may well be a transition season for United (I’m not saying it definitely will be) what would be your expectations this season?
Question is open to other United fans also

Good question.

My expectations would be to begin seeing a style of football that is more akin to United and to start seeing some youth products breaking into the team.

I would also expect to see some players faded out by Feb/March if they're not good enough in Ole's system.

Results wise, I wouldn't expect any more than a challenge for 3rd but potentially 5/6th place.

How about you? What do you think we should expect?

I would expect a challenge for top 4 and a long foray into the Europa league (no reason why you couldn’t win it) the domestic cups are difficult to predict as I don’t know where they are on oles priorities.
I agree with you on the style of play and players being phased out

Fair dos

I don't know anyone who expects a title challenge to be fair! And it may well get worse before it gets better.

A title challenge is probably not going to happen although never say never. I don’t think a lot of folk thought we would make up 24 points on city last season

posted on 24/6/19

My expectations are that we go into every game looking to win and see where it takes us. Liverpool and City were much better than us last season so I don't expect to be close to them however there's no reason why we can't try to cling on as long as possible if we get some momentum going.

Take away the top six and there's still another 28 games we'll play where we'll probably by favourites in. Some flat track bullying wouldn't go amiss!

Both, if Ed has an iota of competence. No other club has had to settle for one or the other.

The club has needed 'direction' for the best part of a decade.

Didn't see the club clamouring for that to happen at any stage in that period, nor is it apparent now.

Settling for a new manager/coach to blame every 18-30 months is the current policy - and relying on gullible fanboys to accept that that is the issue and solution is the masterstroke to end all masterstroke.

Only two players (pogba and mata) transferred in post SAF have been united quality (3 if ibra is included), and those promoted from the youth/academy are, and have been, cosmically weak.

Sack the lot of em - except the 5/6 that are strong enough - and plunder the best (and by 'best' it is meant a combination of experience, character and capability) from the epl that the club can muster

Our current squad is certainly good enough to make top 4.

It shouldn’t be an either or situation, as I’m sure you know.

I’m sure Ed will regain everyone’s faith in him with some swift and conclusive transfers, getting the players Ole wants.

Is that what you want us to say RDD? Not. Going. To. Happen.

I sincerely hope Ed does this. I'd rather be wrong about him and RDD right if it means good times!

I think we all would. Past record doesn’t suggest it will though, unfortunately.
