Facking hell.

You actually don't understand the meaning of the word.

I haven't got the inclination to explain something so basic to you. Embarrassing stuff.

I got hit by a speeding cyclist on holiday a couple of weeks ago, he tried to miss me but skidded on the wet surface (water fountain square) and just clipped me as I got out of the way. As an obnoxious English tourist I walked over to him and helped him to his feet and we shook hands and laughed about it. Not all cyclists are bad, only most of them are

Car insurance is only for car owners.

This would be a compulsory insurance for every member of the UK.

It would either be a tax in name (nationalised) or a tax in everything but name (privatised).

Now, best to end this discussion as it's dull as dishwater.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not a tax though, that is factually incorrect.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Depends how it's implemented.

If it's implemented in the way that I think it would have to be, it'd be a tax.

If not, then technically it wouldn't be.

Either way it's facking irrelevant to the debate and boring.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because you think it's a tax because it seems that way to you, that doesn't make it factually correct.

By the very definition of tax it's not a tax.

These car/cyclist debates were much better before SAF retired. They don't seem to have any kind of plan attached to them since.

Is a meeting to learn the difference between their and they're?

I'll remember not to bother with you in future. Utterly clueless.

You are though

You're stating your opinion as fact, which I've seen you do frequently on here.

This is first class bullsheite though mate.

Shame you're spoiling a decent debate with this.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Indeed.

But you can't have it both ways. I'm recognising that this would ruin the thread and stopping it before it does that.

Yeah guys don't ruin it now, it's been 16 pages of well thought out and definitely not repetitive debate.

I am not sure which side to agree with, Winston campaigning for cyclists not to be killed, or others campaigning for more cyclists to be killed. I can see both sides of the debate.

Put number plates on the bikes, and insure them.

Anything riding on the roads should be identifiable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Instead of looking a numpty why not put an argument across as to why any vehicle using the road network shouldn’t be identifiable?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Pedestrians use the road, so let's start with them.

Shall we insist on pedestrians to hang a numberplate around their neck? Or maybe everyone could have a tattoo on their neck that represents a unique ID?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pedestrians use the pavement

So again, please explain why any vehicle using the ROAD shouldn’t be identifiable?

You can identify them by taking their wallet out of their pocket and looking at their ID when they are lying on the ground. You could also take their cash and say they didn't have any on them. What use is it to a dead person anyway?

Leave your house for a walk.

See how far you get before you need to use a road.

Let me know how you get on.

So you're saying pedestrians should pay road tax like us car drivers?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolutely.

Licence plate around their neck, insurance as dished out by the government and road tax as well.

It's only fair.

Instead of deflecting why not answer the question?

As for yours, I live in a town with many paths. The only time I’d step onto a road would be to cross it using a pedestrian crossing
