You're a keen cyclist, aren't you?

Ever done this?

https://www.capetowncycletour.com/

I've been invited out there for 2020 - expenses paid! Haven't ridden my bike for many years though. Not sure I want to train on UK roads for that.

But an expenses paid trip to Cape Town.

Can I turn that down?!

100k and 1200m climbing, that’s sounds doable for a few months training...even on a turbo trainer. If it’s all in then I would be snapping someone’s hand off for that.

Less than 4000ft in a day is a doddle

Yeh, haven't really researched the climbs. The last charity ride I did broke me.. the final day I was struggling badly so it has put me off a bit.

And training on UK roads is hardly great.

But you're right - hard to turn down. Although I have a baby now, so that 11 hour flight would be tricky!

Lived in Cape Town for a bit. Spectacular place.

Just had a quick look, is it a multi day ride?

Depending on your location in the UK you can always find/research local rides that offer plenty of quiet roads. Even your local cycling club will have great knowledge of quiet rides and at 10-20 to join they are a great way to get the miles in.

Never cycled in SA, so would jump at the chance. My little one restricts weekend ride times, so even indoor/zwift rides can be put in 2-3 times a week after bedtimes. Can I take your place

Sorry, missed this.

It's a one day event as far as I know.

Pretty special ride but to be honest I'd be more interested in the holiday.

Absolutely love Cape Town. Might move there one day.
