I don't imagine these days footballers worry about too much other than their career prospects and money.

But what neutral from abroad would ever choose a non London city over London if it were a 50:50 decision on all other grounds?

London is a global city, one of the most iconic in the world. Outside of football the majority of foreign talent is drawn to London.

Football isn’t ever a 50-50 decision and England’s most famous football clubs are in the north

Was referring to English cities.

The cities you mention are on par with London. Somewhere like Manchester isn't even on the map.

Of course other artists and people in other celeb professions are going to be in London, because that’s where the work is, where the venues are.

Players coming in from abroad with a life based in another country, who are looking to maybe play a few years and move on won’t care about living in London or Cheshire.

It’s playing for the club that’s in the big competition and in with a chance of winning it. Then it’s money and other factors like manager draw and players!

‘Sheringham, Carrick, tevez, Sanchez, Mascherano, RVP, Walker, Berbatov, Adebayor, Nasri, Mata, Sagna’

Mascherano and Tevez don’t count as their 3rd party ownerships meant West Ham were only ever going to be brief stays, and every other player went to either Man City or United - for obvious reasons - many of them after they were already past their peak.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Arsenal were, are and always will be Manchester’s biatches
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That you couldn’t address my point only serves to prove it correct.

Apology accepted.

Having lived in both London and the North West for long periods of time, I have a pretty balanced view.

Multi millionaires can have a cracking lifestyle in London and the city can offer certain things to that category of people that Manchester simply doesn’t cater for on the same level.

As a normal person, where would I rather live? Manchester / the NW every day of the week.

London for the average person is an overpopulated, overpoluted, overpriced genuine shîîît hole. Some parts of London are actually like something out of an apocalypse film.

The NW has great transport links, great cities, beautiful countryside, better footy teams and affordable enough to live very well. Plus the people are better.

Genuine opinion from someone who has lived in both areas

Begs the question what are we actually doing in the market?
------------------
Well...the longer this window goes on I think the more apparent it will come that we're pretty fūcked.

Make no mistake, old Woody finds himself in a tremendously difficult, no-win situation (albeit one that is largely caused by over half a decade of his own incompetence). The whole of Europe knows we are rich and we are desperate. Either he pays extortionate fees which will not please his bosses, or he plays hardball and upsets his manager and the fans. And the latter are at breaking point with him.

I know there's still a good 6 weeks or so to go, but I think we can all confidently say that it was not the plan to be going into the start of pre-season with a championship player as a solitary signing.

I think the only saving grace is that our 2 contenders for top 4 are Arsenal and Chelsea. They are also pretty fūcked.

Great post mate. I have to say that whenever I go to London I can't wait to get back out of there. Horses for courses, but I'd take the countryside every time.

Some of the points people have raised are right though. London is a huge city, the biggest in Europe if I'm not mistaken? And there are some genuine run down areas in the suburbs that need a new breath of life injected into them.

posted on 25/6/19

I like cities like Manchester, Cardiff, Liverpool etc qs they are not too big but whenever I've been in London it seems huge to me. I've enjoyed a visit there but don't think I could live there.

I think you'd have to have moved here about 20 years ago to put up with it Diafol, definitely not worth coming to live in in 2019.

Not sure how that's relevant to United missing out on the CL.
