Hope Mel's applied to the EU Settlement Scheme or they'll all be gone after Halloween

I’m well chuffed if this is correct. Morris has played a blinder. He must have been planning for Lampard’s possible departure for a while. There are no guarantees but Cocu feels like an upgrade on Lampard and vitally there seems to be a continuity of overall philosophy. Over the past few years we have lurched from one idea to the next in the hope that we might chance upon a successful manager. This feels more like building on the good foundations of last season.

I wanted Hughton of the names initially banded about, but he would have been a safe, underwhelming appointment. This is proper exciting.

I said the same earlier Vidal, lampard to cocu feels like a similar upgrade we got from Rowett to lampard. Along with that, we have been paid handsomely for both of those, so 2 upgrades and a big profit to boot. Savvy chairmanning of the highest order from Mel. He's a very successful businessman don't you know.

This Cocu bloke needs to get his finger out and sign some players. No time to waste.

I hope he hasn’t got an accent like Wally van McLaren, sounds dreadful!

Chelsea the eggmen.

Forest the Walrus

Cocu ca choo.

Don’t you like the Beatles Ramdini? I thought they were fab and I cut my hair like them. Who were your pop music heroes?

Glenn Miller ?

Cocu will have a legit Dutch accent, not some bastardised one like schteve, or my accent which is still somewhat English but with enough of a kiwi twang for my family to say I sound weird.

Great news if indeed true.

Frank who ..................?

posted on 2/7/19

he will be welcome but wont he have the same financial constraints as lampard though i.e no money for the transfer market ?

Darley, we paid handsomely for waghorn and Marriott, I would also imagine there were fairly substantial loan fees for mount, tomori and wilson, plus the other players he brought in for a bit less cash, so it's not like his hands were tied behind his back finance wise.

Yes I liked the Beatles very much, but for some inexplicable reason my favourite music was by Beethoven. Every note seemed just right for me. His melodies, tunes and crescendoes struck a deep chord within me. It is not something of which I was proud at the time (or now) but it all seemed so right to me. The EU anthem is stirring stuff whether you are a Europhile or not.

By the way, I am pleased with Frank's replacement - on paper for now. Well done Mel.

VC 10,

For work I travelled extensively in Europe and the nicest people I met were Dutch. I think they appreciated what we achieved during the war and our part in their liberation. I actually got on well with the Germans and still have some good friends there, but there was always a competitive edge rather than the (kind of) collaborative feeling with the Dutch engineers I met.

Ramdini, by chance I'm currently working in Italy for a German company in a US owned factory!

I haven't worked much in Holland, but have spent some time there on holiday.

In my 30+ years working exclusively at third party sites, I would say that most folk are generally glad to see you. The bad experiences come from working in factories that have crap management, wherever they reside.

Ramdini there is a Dutch chap who goes into my local, he is a very nice man but he loathes the Germans with a passion. He tells me what his mother said about the terrible times they had and how grateful they were to us.

Roll over Beethoven was a good tune!

I should add that I think John Lennon sang it on an early Beatles LP.

I saw a comment on Facebook that really emphasised what Mel has done here getting cocu, it said "with Cocu we now have a better manager than man utd and chelsea"

£2M + for Rowett, up to £6M + for FL in 2 years.

It’s the way forward .

Yes, well they didn't behave well at any time in the first half of the last century.

I was working in Cologne (the city, not that puffy man-perfume stuff) and the Germans told me that they try not to go on holiday in any of the Spanish or Greek resorts that have a lot of Dutch tourists, as they know the Dutch still hate them. Seems weird for a generation that weren't even involved in WW2 to have these feelings.
