Why did Arsenal leak this? Should have just said he was injured and resolved it behind closed doors.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

With the amount of insiders and leaks there are nowadays, this was always going to break out sooner or later. It was always going to turn ugly regardless.

If the club didn't say anything, I bet he/his representatives would have.

Anyway, now that it is public, we can't let him have his own way. It would make us look weak and like pushovers if we give him what he wants under these conditions.

Club captain has the mentality that he can act like an upstart and embarrass the club. Where is the discipline at Arsenal? Emery needs to exert his authority here and make an example of Kos so that other players, especially youngsters, understand who’s in charge and what happens if you step out of line.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep....that will help 🙄
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course it will help. A manager needs to command the respect of his players. You don’t get that by letting people step out of line and get away with murder. Kos is close to being expendable due to his age, injuries and contract situation(?), so make an example of him, don’t give him what he wants, make him see out next season in the reserves - at least til January, then fack him off with no fanfare. If Emery wants to start a new era he needs to eliminate the culture of pansieness and start laying down the facking law with an iron fist.

Bollox.

Make an example of our best defender and club captain ffs. More disarray in the locker room is what Arsenal can't afford and we need to solve that problem adequately right before the saison starts.

Something really needs to be done to increase the power of football clubs in these sorts of situations.

GT, do you think Kos's actions have endeared himself to anyone at the club? If anything, our club captain acting like a brat for not having his own way would cause more disarray in the locker room because he isn't committed to us.

He needs to be disciplined for doing this. It isn't acceptable.

If he was still a top-class defender in his prime with years ahead of him then I would sympathise with this point but he's not, he's somewhat crocked to be brutally honest and past his sell-by-date.

I'd like to hear the full story on this but from his point of view he's given a lot of years to Arsenal and he wants to return to France for his last career move, he probably won't get this chance again, at least not to play in Ligue 1. We should have just accepted it and let him go but obviously the real issue here is that we are short on transfer money and we can't afford to replace him. The plan was to let him go when Saliba arrived next summer.

A real shame for his Arsenal career to end like this but I'd be very surprised if we ever see him play for us again and he does not leave us this summer now.

Personally I think every player should honour their conctract. That is in an ideal world. Football is all about money and players have the power these days. They don't care about the club.

Disappointing that it seems to include our club captain as well.

Klopp did this with Sakho, didn't cause any problems in the dressing room and showed the rest of the players he wouldn't take any shіt.

At least you have really committed guys like Ozil you can count on
----------------------------------------------------------------------
😂

Yea not the behaviour you want to see from a player, let alone the captain. And certainly not nice to have it all so public.

But I’d be happy for him to go. It would hurt us in the short term, assuming he is not replaced, but the guy doesn’t play as much as he once did and he is getting to that point where he ant deliver for us any longer. Let him go home and see out his days in somewhere like Lyon

Holding was our best CB last season until he got injured, he was better than Koscielny was when he returned.

This is pretty funny really, glad it's happening well in advance of the window closing.

We have more than enough time to replace the unt

The problem is how this effects the rest of the already fairly uncommitted squad...

Never thought Koscielny would be the type to go on strike!

I thought there was general acceptance that his best days were behind him and he'd probably leave Arsenal this summer? But this is a pretty crappy way to end a 9 year association with the club, quick way to ruin the relationship with the fans!

posted on 11/7/19

I'm not making excuses for Koscielny, but I've seen people come back from life threatening medical situations and immediately make life-changing decisions like quit their marriages, careers, belief systems..etc

You get to think and stew about a lot of stuff when you're on the shelf.

We all know he spent most of his recovery period in France, and the ITKs are saying he asked for a permanent move back home as soon as he was up and running.
