Yes totally agree about Radabe

Makes me cringe that's all, there must be people that for no reason you cannot bear, he is one of those. Not sure living in a village near you qualifies him for being a cult figure.
Next time you see him down the pub make sure to tell him I think he's a kant.

Kamara lives a few doors away from my mother - see him quite regular. Really nice, approachable guy. Talks with passion about Leeds whenever we've chatted.

Radebe without a doubt.

Albert Johanneson should have been up there but black players didn't get the recognition back then, pity his life went downhill after his football career ended.

John Sheridan for me, absolute legend of the Eighties.

Personal dislike aside, I cannot see how he can be flagged up as a cult hero, on what basis?

Is Beckford a cult hero?

I wasn't picking Crowe out for any particular attention, just a name. We've had some real howlers at ER but it isn't what this thread is about.....

Not sure you can question the commitment of Kamara, it's got him into trouble in the past on the pitch but cult status? He's achieved that through his work in the media more than his efforts at Leeds United.

I like him though and I remember the chants as he was warming up on the sidelines just before he moved to Luton Town. His response was typical of the man!

John Sheridan was a great servant to Leeds United but cult status? I'm not so sure.....

OT remember the day ...........................

Yes, for that moment alone.

Erik Bakke made over 140 appearances over seven years, not the world's greatest footballer but that degree of commitment must count for something.

To those who followed Leeds United up and down the country in the Eighties, Sheridan was God!

amazed how many don’t understand what cult hero is.

John Charles and Gordon strachan weren’t one

Albert Johanneson what a great shout that is!!

If you're talking about cult players at Leeds he was definitely up there. Excitement went through the crowd when he received the ball on the left wing, almost begging him to take on the opposition with a mazy dribble...I remember one wintry afternoon, Match of the Day cameras on what is now the Kop, open to the elements then, Albert had a great game, think he scored 2 in the defeat of Everton, after that his status
Into cult figure took off...he was profiled as the probable match winner against Liverpool in the '65 FA Cup, but sadly disappointed as did the team to be fair.
My last memory of him was seeing kicking a ball with a young lad, just outside the Mustard Pot in Chapel Allerton, laughing his head off with the young lad!
Great memories of him playing for Leeds though!

John Charles the first
Albert second
Bremner third
Hunter fourth

Jacky Overfield is one of my earlier cult heroes, the crowd at Elland Road like tricky wingers, George Meek and Eddie Gray all in that mould, crowd pleasers, good company with Albert....

Dying breed now.

This must clubs love a tricky winger, just don’t get anymore.

I did! Loved that time particularly when Eddie Gray was in charge.

It's all about pace now LIW 😀

"Give it to Jacky!" (Overfield) the crowd would shout...

Stood on the Lowfields Road at the front, leaning against the white perimeter wall I saw George Meek warming up with a cig in his mouth!

Yes I think you're right LIW about the difference between legend and cult status...I would leave Bremner and Charles out of cult status...Legends obviously...I would leave Hunter in cult status, imo...
