David Beckham is still hugely popular and draws crowds wherever he goes. Does this mean that he is still one of the world's top footballers?
He'd get in our side Barry.
can't believe utd, piggy backing Leeds' huge following to try and sell out stadiums.

Its because of the debt obv... We've no choice
I don't see your point Declan. The article is all about number of fans, in fact the opening lines make it clear we are not a top performing team, but still a huge attraction.
Still, full marks for trying.
The season tickets didn't sell out in record time at all. I have heard from a few different people there were some still available only a few weeks ago. Not sure if that's still the case. Got mine though for a consecutive 29th season.
Buying my son one for the following season too. Even more money.

Do you care how many fans we have throughout the world though? Would you not rather we were successful on the pitch?
I put myself back on the season ticket list for next season and didn't get one, so there's still a demand there...

Success on the pitch is secondary to revenue and sustainability.
Of course I prefer success Declan, but that's not what the article is about, and I would like us to have both.
So why is it "not as bad as some think"? Some people literally give no facks about fan numbers. For many, success on the pitch is all that matters. So if anything the fact that a lack of success has no affect on our off field matters actually points to it being WORSE than some folk think because there is less of a driving force to be successful on the pitch.
Because some think we are losing fans, but apparently not. As fans bring income it gives us more money in the transfer market to become successful again.

We don't need to spend money on transfers though as we don't lose fans regardless of how we do on the pitch.
Maybe it would do us good to go on one of these tours and fail to sell out half a ground, maybe the Glazers/Ed would realise thing's aren't all rosy then.
Haven't lost fans. Who knows the future.

Are we gaining or have we gained new fans in recent seasons
I would seriously doubt it
Not that it matters too much to the Glazers with the current worldwide utd fan base , of which they've taken for granted and seriously short changed with how badly they have run the most important side of the club since fergie retired.
I've no idea if we have gained or lost. I just put it up there for interest. I was surprised we still seem very very popular.

The Woodward ethos
673m fans worldwide at the last count.
Most of which are probably City or Liverpool fans now.
