It's unnacceptable that a new old ball should be doing so much compared to the last. They haven't worked on the ball and the ball they had was a typical old ball. Seems unfair this
Regarding Root, I think it's true that he is falling a little behind the other 3 in some respects, but it's a bit harsh to talk about him not converting
He made 57, yes 57.
It's way too early to talk about conversion at 57, otherwise everyone would 100 every time they got a 50. I know you're in when you've got a 50, but it shouldn't be that easy to get a 100 that you feel you've missed out when you make 57.
His conversion is a problem, but not today in my eyes.
26 minutes on 92 for burns
Australia always somehow manage to get a "new" ball in the 60th over
its amazing how many times it happens, and there's no way this ball is as old as what was replaced
Bill Bows: Classic Denly Test innings that. A couple of lovely drives and then out. Would Curran score more? Probably. Would Curran give an extra bowling option? Definitely. Will England make the change for Lord's? Of course not.

Buttler gone. England collapse under way.

Very harsh. Players need a few games to adjust. You can't judge his overall contribution on 1 game where he showed signs of looking decent. He will come good in this series, I am convinced.
no surprise, ball wasn't doing anything, got it changed suddenly its swinging here there and everywhere
Now Buttler is a lmayer that deserves criticism in the test format. He just isn't the same player.
The change of the ball and the difference between this and the previous one is literally a joke. Changed the whole game and has made this unfair. They also get another new ball in just over 10 overs!!
if we are not at least 100-150 ahead of the aussies going into the 2nd innings theyre on top imo.
Well played Rory Burns. Excellent innings.

I'd be happy with 350 from here. Bairstow and Moeen will need to produce though.
mmm anything around 150-200 to chase to win will be too nervy for me

It would but its the sort of total you'd probably take chasing if you lost the toss.
50s for stokes, bairstow and one of moeen or woakes would be nice
Crucial final hour or so coming up. No more than 5 down at the close and within about 30 or so of their total would be a decent day.

Come on the Aussies!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
fack off baz
Yet to bat:
Jonny Bairstow(wk), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Stuart Broad, James Anderson
A never ending batting line up !.
Just thinking about this would depress the fielding team.
On paper, Australian lineup is outmatched and outclassed by this Eng team.
Has every potential to be a world dominating team for next decade if they find a quality spinner( swann's level would do)
