Second offer for Lukaku

The simple solution would be swap for Icardi.

As a cash deal it's not happening, Inter can't afford it. They are embarassing themselves in Arsenalesque fashion by offering well under the value that would get a deal done so they can tell their fans they tried.

60m is actually a good deal for United for once.

That would be a good deal for us.

Icardi seems to have issues with his attitude so I can understand why United are not interested in him.

I think Inter will have to sell some before they have the funds to meet our asking price.

Their issue is ffp. Looks like they’ve got Barella and Sensi on loan with options to buy which should give them some more leeway with ffp to get Lukaku.

Selling Icardi will obviously help as well, but that’s a really complicated issue that will drag on all summer.

60m would still be a 15m loss and were supposed to pay 5m to Everton for any sale on Lukaku. So, holding out on what we value him as makes sense especially as we will have to replace him if he goes and it sends out a message that we aren't going to sell for low prices any more.

Well depends on the bonuses, but taking a slight loss on him isn’t that big a deal considering he’s two years into his contract and hasn’t been very good for us.

Ed, I think it's also due to Inter and their rejection of Perisic deal. There was only 5m difference but they stood firm and the deal fell through. So they're probably going to end up without Lukaku like we did with Perisic.

I’d be snapping hands off, personally.

Ben Yedder at just over half the price (£35m buyout clause according to reports) looks a decent replacement and would closer fit with the style of play I’m expecting to see next season.

Take the money and run.

If the bonuses add an extra £20m to the £60m then that looks a good deal to me.

We don't want him, he wants to leave, and it gives us some extra funds (hopefully) to go towards a cheaper replacement (Ben Yedder?).

60 million for Lukaku? When does he leave

posted on 16/7/19

Well if we are playing silly buggars over that supposed issue with Perisic, then we’ll be asking for it when it backfires on us in the long run and we have to lose out even more when we can’t sell Lukaku for good money when Inter drop out of the running.

Why are we not buying Harry Kane? We are the biggest club in the world. Let's just buy him.

There's about 3 weeks of the window left, we need to sort this situation out sharpish so we can get a replacement in quickly.

The scenes when we don’t buy a striker and Sanchez is back up.

That's probably looking more and more likely, Darmian and Rojo are joining up on the tour next week as well. So much for being ruthless with the deadwood.

If we can get a replacement for roughly half the price (like Ben Yedder) then I'd take the £60m.

If I've understood FFP Lukaku's 'book value' is less than that now so we'd be making a 'book' profit which is good for FFP purposes. Melton or someone is invited to show that I'm wrong though and I'll go back to the drawing board!

We need people to make an offer for them in order to Sell.

This has annoyed me more than the process of getting players in.

The flip side of this though is that if we leave them at home clubs will think they can get them really cheap. Also, if no offers come in for them, you do need to still include them and involve them with the squad as you never know when you may want them to play. They could also be good friends with some of the other players and no one likes seeing a mate out in the cold if they've done nothing wrong. Nothing about them makes me think they've acted unprofessionally and, as I've said before, if he was happy to stay I'd be happy keeping Darmian as a back up defender.

It’s difficult to be ruthless with players on good money that aren’t really coveted by other clubs.

That said, there’s still plenty of time to move a few on after our transfer window shuts.

Depends whether the club need the money to bring in a replacement now.

Don't Inter put these kinds of deals in place fairly often and fail to pay on time?
