Icardi was sent home from training the other day.
I think Lukaku would be a success in Serie A.
We need a proven PL goal scorer. Can we have a look at the all time PL top scorers and sign the one highest up on that list still currently playing in the PL? Aguero? Kane? Those two look unrealistic. Let’s look at who is next on the list currently playing in the PL and go all out to sign them!!! Just do it now! It’s not rocket science.

That's probably looking more and more likely, Darmian and Rojo are joining up on the tour next week as well. So much for being ruthless with the deadwood.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wanting to be ruthless is one thing, selling the player for what the CEO believes they are worth is another.
I'm sure a few clubs will have looked at Darmian and Rojo and decided against paying them £80k a week.

If we can get a replacement for roughly half the price (like Ben Yedder) then I'd take the £60m.
If I've understood FFP Lukaku's 'book value' is less than that now so we'd be making a 'book' profit which is good for FFP purposes. Melton or someone is invited to show that I'm wrong though and I'll go back to the drawing board!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are absolutely correct.
Not that FFP is something we need to be remotely concerned about, unless we’re about to spend EUR500m on Neymar, Mbappe and Koulibali.
(Even then we’d probably be OK, actually.)

is that really thing? I never knew that
It’s hard to say what his book value is because our transfers are undisclosed, and it’s not been made clear if there are any bonuses and how they are structured.
But we’d be making a profit on Lukaku on the books if we sold at this price, going off the reported figures we paid for Lukaku.

Yep; given the amortization of his contract, if we were to sell for £60m we’d net gain for FFP purposes if we’d spent anything up to £100m.
That’s before considering shifting his wages off the books.
Again, not that it matters, because we’re so profitable right now we could spend like Real and not have to remotely worry about FFP.
Yeah don’t even worry about it. The new overseas deal will cover a spend of a few hundred million just in itself if you wanted it too.

Very good. Thanks for confirming what I thought although it doesn't seem to be affecting United that much anyway looking at the above.
The funniest thing about ffp is that right now it’s causing problems for its biggest advocates: Arsenal.
ffp was the worst thing that could happen to teams lower down, as much as people like to make fun of city that wont ever happen again, who cares how much of their own money a owner blows as long as its going into the club mainly
Melts, Rosso
I have missed something here and need to be educated. What is this new overseas deal?
This isn't any kind of dig. This is genuine ignorance on my part.

The overseas deals for the rights to broadcast PL matches are bringing a new massive windfall for clubs:

Any idea how much that will mean for us per year?
It depends on how much we are on tv and where we finish, VC.

We got paid £142m by the PL last season, and I believe around £100m of that related in one way or another to domestic and international TV rights.
But not only are the international rights deals up next season, also the PL are now changing how they dish out international TV dosh. To date, they have shared the pot equally across the 20 teams. Going forward they’re going to give larger shares to those clubs that command greater TV audiences.
So the Glazers will be doubly quids in.
60 million? Snap their hand off!!

Yep, this time, we were heavily pushing for this. Personally, I disagree with it, though I don't think it's right that the current model means Liverpool earnt more from the PL than we did last year despite finishing second. There's something wrong with the model when the tv is greater than the merit payment.
