Slipknot rode too much on the edge of the nu metal wave. Add to that the boiler suits and masks and the whole package just seemed too contrived for my taste.

I also don’t listen to metal to get in touch with a darker or edgier side. Good metal is uplifting, beautifully self aware and puts a massive grin on my face and boner in the pants

Never really been into Slipknot.. don't mind some of their stuff

The metal/hard rock I prefer is most of the older stuff.

Really analogue sounding, heavy bass and slapping drums. All day long

Still impressed with how popular their first album was with the general public. There were kids with slipknot tshirts everywhere, can't see that happening these days no matter how good a new metal band was. +1 for Duality

Duality, before I forget, psychosocial, devil n I, snuff are all awesome songs.

Always preferred the old school metals and not such a fan of the growl vocals but now far more tolerant, I listen mainly for the music anyway.

Used to always be megadeth, tallica, pantera, anthrax etc but have broadened that out a fair bit niw

Bands like slipknot, 5 finger death punch n volbeat etc have had me resurged again to find other bands.

Oh anything slash touches is beast
