Oh well Bye Bye Moeen., when stokes comes back. They will only play 1 spinner and it will be leech. so Moeen will very much be finished now for England and good riddance.

Root went down the pitch fine. But when it was wide he could have with drawn his bat..But he didn't..and nicked off to the keeper.. England are gonna lose to Ireland in under 3 days. says it all really.

Stokes to 3, play Curran as our all rounder @6 is an experiment id like to see

Not so sure, i thought if we get 300 it could be enough.
We may get a few more tomorrow so we'll see!

Woakes one of the first names on the teamsheet for me. Amazed to see few people wanting Archer ahead of him.

You need that pace so I reckon one of stone or archer along broad and Anderson. Curran is ahead of woakes too.

I would have Woakes ahead of Archer for the first test too. Pace isn't really important in England, and Archer would probably bowl too short.

Just wish all these bowling options were batsman, I would have no worries with the likes of Curran, Woakes, Archer, Stone etc playing, yet there is nobody in the country capable of batting in our top 3! Well, Root is but doesn't fancy it.

I posted it when were like 7 down with 120 on the board.
get a lead of 200 then its a possibility. No disprect to Ireland. But we should be beating them by an innings. Not expecting a number 11 to get 92. after being bowled out for 85.in the first innings.
Our batting is a shambles. Like I have said. if we are gonna win the ashes it will come down our bowlers. Our batsmen will do their best to lose us the series

My 11 for the ashes
Burns (whos not good enough)
Roy
Denly (whos yet to show anything)
Root
Stokes
Curran
Bairstow
Woakes
Leach
Broad
Anderson

No more Moeen Ali, let him focus on other things.

English batting looks thin. Aus winning Ashes for the first time in England since 2001.Overdose of ODI cricket , dead pitches at home have dented their prospects.

Anyone calling for Bairstow to play honestly needs to think again. It's not just the attitude stuff (which I'll admit is just my reading of the situation) but the raw numbers back up the fact he shouldn't be anywhere near the team. Buttler and Foakes are far better options both as keepers and as batsmen.

Ohh noo first ball and gone! Ireland are very lucky. If there was no rain yesterday England could have added another 20 runs. Ireland would have batted 8 overs or so which would have been tricky. England could have got a wicket or two.

England have played best cricket in last half hour than all test match because of rain hahaha

Only my jokes people calm down then please

Doesn't look like we'll get any play in the rest of the test after 5pm today if the forecast holds, so a draw could be likely.

Just stuck a tenner on it at 41/1 on skybet, might be able to get some joy from this game after all

Test cricket is where you will get found out.
Very very rarely does a lesser team wins in test cricket.

Proper cricket.. Cricket in its purest form.
But one could argue thats where t20 or even odi provides more environment for competition.
Even a lesser team will have a chance to fluke a win here and there. Test cricket, no chance.
If you win a test match=> you are better team.

Unfortunately it papers over the cracks that we have in our fragile batting line up but losing would have been a lot worse. At least the bowling is on song.
