Both goals were lucky, First a deflection off Bird and second Bird misjudged a header and it fell to the feet of the Girona player who would have found it harder to miss than score.

First half we fielded a very young and inexperienced team and it showed. The difference in quality when he brought what could be considered the first time on was huge.

Sibley and Bird look the most likely to step up, Anya and Martin (started well) not great, Lowe could yet resurrect his Derby career.

The scoreline flattered Girona, I reckon I could name the starting XI against Rangers

I went tonight.
I think we need at least 4 new players before the season starts. A new Keeper, a CB to play alongside Keogh, a creative midfielder and a winger.
I like Evans at CB but not expecting him to stay fit. Davies has to be 3rd choice CB and he looks slow.

We look about where I expected us to look without our 3 key loanees from last season, if not slightly weaker.

Can't see Martin being the answer, I think Bird stepping up is optimistic. Missed Nugent and Bryson IMHO. Not really sure what Shinnie adds.

Pre-season friendly and all, but this squad feels like a regression.

Strip out the goals / assists from the Loanees, let us leak another couple every few games, and I think you can get a good estimate of how we'll do this season.

Shinnie and Dowell were linking up well, not sure if Dowell took a knock though.

We had 3 premier league quality players last season and struggled to 6th. We need 4 this season to improve. Not too bothered about pre-season games other than that Girona are not a La Liga side and we should be able to dispatch them with ease.

I agree we missed Bryson last night...but weve missed Bryson for 4 seasons not just last night.

Last night was nothing to read into but give the young lads senior football. Plusses was the performances of Lowe,Knight and Sibley. I expect 2 or 3 in before Huddersfield. With the return of Marriott and Holmes it will be like 4 or 5 new signings. Knight and Sibley should be in and around the squad this season as well.
