Deja vu for me!
Both Roofe and Bamford are either not where they're supposed to be to get on the end of the chances we create, or when they do, they invariably fluff it. I don't think either of them could finish their dinner. Our profligacy in front of goal cost us dearly last season. Throw the inevitable goalkeeping or defensive error into the mix and its a recipe for disaster in terms of automatic promotion. On the plus side, I like the look of the Polish lad and we play some stuff that is easy on the eye. Still time to strengthen, but it strikes me Stevie Wonder can see what we need better than our recruitment team.

Bamfords miss was horrific. Litterally cant fathom why he went to the left with an almost open goal in front of him. No news on Roofe's injury yet

Bogusz will be in the squad all season,he has the potential to become a vital player for us,that was apparent last season for the U23s.
Bamford just needs a goal and the fans to support him, not get on his back.

Same old same old isn’t it.

Could have scored 6 but didn’t.

Sorry, doesn’t cut the mustard.

I’m afraid that they haven’t found answers so far to last seasons problems at the back of the season.

Casilla. Still don’t buy into this communication problem. I honestly can’t see a goalkeeper in him. Two shot to save tonight. One he dived away from the goal leaving it wide open and had the striker got more pace on the goal he would have scored. The second the usual no mans land and lying down mode with inevitable chip over him. He just makes strikers jobs easier. At the other end both Aussie goalkeepers showed him how to save shots. Add in a weak punch and all I can say is we will not go up with him in goal.

Great football again in the pitch between the penalty boxes but awful at both ends. We must have put 50 crosses into the box and I reckon we connected with maybe 3. For numerous reasons it just doesn’t work.

Happy to grab the winner which was celebrated like we had won a league game such is the efforts and expense of those that have travelled. I was asked if i would take 6th place if offered now and I answered yes.

It’s not.

It’s how I see it, no progress on last year when our problems were so blindingly obvious

A bit early to be jumping off ledges.

I like the look of how individuals are playing.
And I trust in MB to get the team in position.

Positive note is Harrison looking much improved from last season.

Some positives particularly Bogusz and Harrison.my concert though is still lack of height at the back and the keeper behind them.this could still be put right with a smart signing over next few weeks.

You see the guy saying we'd get relegated. You don't call that an overreaction?

So damn true on Harrison. He looks so sharp.
Amazing what time with MB can do for a player.

So you want us to spend millions we don’t have on a striker when we have plenty of options up front, all who are good enough?

We miss far too many chances I agree, but at least we are getting chances, if we weren’t that would be something to worry about.

We have signed Costa, that in itself is an improvement in attacking options

Harrison & Coast down the flanks. Pabs in the middle.

What's not to like.

Like last season we look like conceding a lot of soft goals. Whether by losing the ball when attacking and are therefore left short at the back or from crosses either set pieces or open play. This was obvious last season and has not been addressed. If anything we are weaker at the back, not enough height in there and a GK who does not inspire confidence. The theory that we will concede but always score more than the opponents as its the Bielsa way is all very well. The snag is we do not score anywhere near the goals we should based on possession and chances. That is why we did not have the big 3-0, 4-0 wins very often which our rivals did. We often ended up clinging on at the end of games with 2-1 or 3-2 scorelines.

I hope and pray Bielsa has a plan to fix this as the agony of going so close again like last year would be too much to bear

So, I believe we currently have two injuries in Roberts and Ayling, I am assuming the knocks to Roofe and Bogusz are just that, knocks, with Berardi suspended for the first game, what does the 18 look like for the first game?

I don't know why but I've said it a few times and again here on this thread today!..

Goals conceded, Bielsa's teams have all done it, its his style of play and set up that is the problem!..

He sets his teams up to press the opposition and force mistakes, moves the ball fast and moves his back line further forward on attacks!..

This, when we lose the ball leaves our back how many, is it 3, open unless the players further forward can get back and help in covering!..

A reason he's a freak as far as fitness goes and has the team doing fitness it seems a hell of a lot more than any other team in the country!..

Its not the players, its the Bielsa way!..

I don't understand how everybody always goes on about the defense!..

Bielsa's team have always been known for conceding, its the way he sets his team for attack!..

Its his system!..

I know bud. Funniest thing on here the second half of the season was the all the articles saying sides had figured us out... as if a 7 year old who’d ever watched a football match wouldn’t have been able to. Just because we played a few hung go teams at the start iof the season who gave us loads of space.. Everybody tried to counter into the space after that. Hardly rocket science. Whether it’s successful for them or not depends on their players skill sets and luck of the game.

Difference second half of the season was we took fewer chances and committed suicide more often. Not that after months of studying, opposition coaches had finally twigged that we were short of numbers on the counter and left space behind advancing fullbacks!
