Despite his poor form the last 2-3 months he is still the best keeper in the league. Would have cost a fortune to get a keeper of his talent. I’m happy he may be staying

I honestly thought he was gonna leave, this is fantastic news.

Great news.

Perfect news... Adding a new keeper along with new RB and likely a new CB would have been hard.

The mood of the dressing room will be really good now.

I don't think he is the right Captain. Then again we don't see what he is like in the dressing room, maybe he is a leader there.

I think he is out of the current crop.
Who else is there? Lindelof is the only other possibility and even he is not that commanding

Other than one that went straight to touch near the end of the today's game I thought his distribution from feet was more accurate and assured than it was at the end of last season

Good news... Unless his form goes like the end of last season... In which case it's "ffs Ed"

Our ex players all say that Cantona was quiet on the pitch and led by example. De Gea is the perfect player to give the armband to in that context.

357k x 312 weeks = 117m

given 'decent' keepers like Allison or Kepa are going for 70 million, and its reported Kepa gets 200k a week so the cost of buying a 'kepa' and then paying him 200k for 6 years is 132.4m

bargain to get someone like de get for that imo

But you paid 25m for him, and he won't have any resale value by the time this contract is finished.

posted on 21/7/19

Let's be real. He's only getting that because Sanchez is on stupid money, and he knows you can't replace him.

posted on 21/7/19

Who is as good who we can replace him with?
At the moment any of the keepers close to being as good for him aren't available as they're at rivals or other top clubs.

-------
Misisng the point. The point is about replacing De Gea VS his new contract. His previous price doesn't come into it.

Well in that case you'd have to figure out his market value and deduct that from the cost of replacing him. You'd also have to think that the new GK wages would be closer to 200k than 375.

Oblak would be the obvious replacement, if you were likely to challenge for the league or CL.
