Tierney Debacle

He is currently injured, so no rush in getting him in.
The deal is pretty much done anyway, we don't have any competition for his signature.

He will be better than Roberrtson.

25 mill is buttons for him. Deserves to be in the CL.

Just seems typical of previous transfer deals DJ. Where we see and hear "On the verge of, All but done, Almost completed" repeatedly, all through the window. Only to see another club cough up the cash with no trouble plus a couple mil more to sweeten the deal. Then it's "Oh look, we never got him after all that, now we're stuffed all season." Feel like I can see that coming on deadline day.

Considering awb was 50m, and tierney is a better player with a higher ceiling, 25m is peanuts..

Sanllehi is a far better negotiator than the previous regime. I think his time at Barca buys him a fair amount of latitude in our dealing. Edu has also only just joined so I am not so surprised at the speed of our negotiations. I am definitely happy about new strategy compared to previous years. We are focussing on youth and truly exceptional talents. Spending £30m+ on Mustafi for example, was a disaster. Compare that to Saliba.

You're talking about target selection though. 30 mil on Mustafi would have been a steal if he'd been a successful fit. I'm happy with the focus, it's the faffing that's getting on my nerves. Our budgetary limitations me we can't muck about if we've identified a player with the focus you mention. His potential resale value alone means other clubs will begin to get interested, the longer it drags on with us. Not to mention it sends the wrong message to the player, if a club won't even stump up the cheap as chops asking price.

He has to think of his financial future. It's not going to make him confident of getting himself a good deal for his second contract. His agent wants to get paid too so it'll be, "If they're haggling over that crappy fee now mate, then I don't fancy your chances of a hefty pay rise on your next contract. You'll make more money at..." that's the advice he's giving, if anyone with some spending power comes a calling.

Not every single agent is a money-grabbing w|-|ore like Mino Raiola, some of them are happy with the substantial amounts of money they make without being excessively greedy and holding clubs to ransom, some of them certainly care more about the players themselves and the player's futures football-wise, not simply seeing dollar signs flashing before their eyes.

With the 2019-2020 season just around the corner, can anyone convincingly claim that Arsenal is a stronger club than last year? Or will they merely be fighting it out with Wolves and Everton for 6th. place in the PL?

Well we had Holding & Bellerin, two of our first choice and one of our best defenders (Holding) missing for nearly the entire season so they actually will be LANS'.

On the downside we lost our best Midfielder on a free.

The players should also be more comfortable/familiar working with Emery and they will better understand his tactical instructions by now. If we get Tierney, Ceballos on loan, a winger (Everton/Zaha) and Saliba confirmed then I will be satisfied. My feeling is that we'll get Tierney and Ceballos plus Saliba agreed to join next season but no winger.

Not yet, but if we get the 4 players expected then yes.

If we get Saliba, Everton, Tierney, Cellibos (loan) and another CB it will be a very good summer transfer window. Especially considering we havent really lost anyone (Ramsey was gone in Jan).

If we somehow manage to offload Ozil/Miki and nab Zaha it turns into an amazing summer.

I think atm Saliba, Cellibos and Tierney are around 70% done.
