Terrible news mate, but you sound like you are keeping strong through this difficult time.
The NHS comes in for some severe criticism at times but in my experience the cancer treatment services are second to none.
I wish your lad all the best.

We haven't always agreed on these boards but that doesn't matter. Best wishes to you and your family during this trying time.

I'm sure everything will be fine in the end (as what these doctors, surgeons, nurses etc can do now is amazing) and that you'll be back on here in no time.

OP, even though I am not a religious person myself, I hope that if you are, your faith helps you through this one as I've seen it help people very close to me through similar ordeals.

All the best to you and especially your kid. I sincerely hope we hear back from you with the best of news much sooner than anyone might imagine.

We've never really spoken but in one post you have shown immense bravery beyond words.

I'm a Dad of 3 and you are living mine and many others worst nightmares.

Thoughts with you are yours at this time and I hope to hear good news very soon.

RITH,

Thinking of you and the family. I became a father earlier this year and I can’t say much more than suddenly life makes sense.

I wish you all the very best and hope the little man recovers soon.

If there are things that JA606 members can do to help - financially or otherwise - please don’t be afraid to say.

Stay strong and don’t be afraid to reach out.

Praying for you and your son

Keep strong m8, your young'un will need you to be his anchor. Hopefully you get the positive outcome that you want.

The following is a brief account of our experience with the big 'C'. It is a difficult read and was even more difficult to write.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We were unfortunate to have lost our 40 year old daughter to cancer in January.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer last March.

After months of Chemo and a double mastectomy she was given the all clear in late October.

In November she was called in to see her oncologist and given the news that some rogue cells had managed to evade the chemo by migrating to her brain. This secondary cancer was very aggressive.

She was admitted to hospital on 27th December, transferred to the palliative care unit at St. Giles Hospice on 3rd January

Less than 3 weeks later we were attending her funeral.

I know this isn't the kind of thing you wanted to read BUT it is best to know all possible outcomes. We were not prepared for what came to pass and were so devastated when we heard of the secondary cancer.
