Having a wafer-thin squad to contest a 46 game league season is asking for trouble. The physical demands of Bielsa ball and the pre-season torture schedule don't seem to help with keeping the players out of the treatment room.

You can't expect an array of youngsters to make up the difference.

So how many first choice strikers do you want sitting on the bench? We have Bamford. We have Roberts. We have Edmundson. Do we buy another just in case we get an injury? Four players for each position?

Bielsa will cope. He has already said last season that he thinks Harrison could play up top.

Lets get behind what we have and back them to score the goals we need.

We have three players in roofe, bamford and taylor who would be considered first choice for most teams in this league.

We dont need any more strikers

Roofe, Bamford and Roberts are all injury prone, just need Bamford injured to complete the set and it's not even week 1

I hear Lee Chapman is available.

Last season showed we do not have a regular prove goalscorer at this level. I don’t see what’s changed. Unless we have an U23 striker that is going to hit the ground running, it’s deja vu for me. I hope I’m proved wrong but the 3 wise monkeys in the boardroom can’t seem to see a problem!

I think Bamford will be more prolific this time around. A bit like Wood was in his final season.

My worry is the defence....

Seems like all our front players are injury prone. Having a small squad is all well and good if they are all robust types. Our defenders are not much better, always at least one first choice missing. Looks like a long season ahead
