They issued a statement saying that?!?

Maybe they'll pay for the player fee in instalments of £40 a week?

Arsenal are far from skint. They're actually a well run company.

Their last accounts showed a turnover of £0.4bn and a £57m profit after tax. They had strong liquidity including £231m in cash.

Their running expenses and amortisation costs have edged up recently and they may want to put a brake on this, which has resulted in them appearing skint.

Jukebox said so so it must be right.

Plus the pepe deal has been heavily reported as all installments

Funny thing is, they have some very good attacking options but they're defence is arguably the worst of the top10 in EPL.

So.....buy another striker.

Oops winger.

Vinai Venkateshem: "I don’t recognise this £40m figure, I have read it a lot. That doesn’t come from us."

The reported transfer budget actually came from a few financial analysts, which were then circulated by various bloggers, and taken as fact by the mainstream sports media.

OP... you've have a 'mare, mate.

Arsenal have a mare...Worst defense in the league, shambles of a captain, average midfield and only two decent front players...
And Arsenal are bought a defender just loan him out to his club , got a midfielder on loan so that doesn't make sense as the player will leave next season and meanwhile also have a player they are paying enormous wages £300k+ a week

Shambles

If you're so fixed, why are you quibbling over buttons?

Small time mentality?

Why are Celtic quibbling over buttons when our offer could buy you a whole new squad?

The issue here is how the media report things.
Arsenal never had a budget of £45m.
Transfer fees are often paid in installments anyway - so a budget of £45m doesn't mean a club is limited to £45m worth of player.
Arsenal haven't got an unlimited transfer fund, or anything to match United and City, but we are able to match Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea - our net spend (ie what the club spends beyond transfer sale profit) is greater than these 3 clubs over a 5 year period.
We negotiate over fees because a club would either be reckless, stupid or filthy rich not to.

On Tierney specifically, there is no rush for us to get the deal done. He is injured, we are the only team in for him, and he will be an Arsenal player within the next two weeks. It is up to Celtic to decide when they want the money.

He would feel rich, which is the only reason he would leave his boyhood heroes.

Good luck to the lad, I just wish he was heading to a bigger club with more trophy prospects.
