There is no doubt in my mind he will go

I agree he’ll probably go Nev. I was initially for the deal until I saw the figures quoted for his replacement which made it a loss rather than a gain.

However my only lingering doubt is that if Man U we’re gonna pay, why don’t they just get on with it? What are they waiting for?

I'd rather he stay but can understand if he wants to go, not sure at this stage it would be a move up though if it's Utd.

At least he's acting professionally unlike the last "big name" who through a sulk to try and get his move.

It's definitely a move up.

Still up in the air to me, although personally I’d put the chance of him leaving at considerably lower than 95%. At least in this transfer window.

If Leicester have done as Rodgers suggests and given a cut-off date of some sort, it makes sense for it to be this weekend. That was only Rodgers’ suggestion of course, but given how we were bitten by the Silva transfer a couple of years back and we’re supposedly aiming for top 6 this season, it would make sense. We don’t want it to be us that ends up with the problem and people demanding high prices for Dunk or Tarkowski in the last day of the transfer window.

A few weeks ago I thought Man Utd were desperate and would cough up the (I reckon) £90m we’re demanding for him. Now they look equally desperate but unwilling to do anything about it. Which probably suits us better in the short term but doesn’t help Ole to build the foundations of a new squad.

And anyway, there’s always January or next summer.

Just watched the film draft day its about the NFL draft and i think doing deals around the transfer window must be like that.
With the owners of both clubs they know what ever happens its not the end of human civilization its a business transaction and you let it run as much as you need to get the deal you want unless you rule out no deal like some people would have us say and leave your self with no position to negotiate sorry wrong topic

Nev - The only logic behind that so far as I can see is if either Man Utd think we’ve already spent the “Maguire money” this window and will cave ourselves or Maguire will hand in a transfer request and kick up a stink. The former would be a miscalculation and the latter shows no sign of happening,

Try this one if we don't sell Harry we don't need to spend £40M on a replacement Mu take to the wire knowing if all else fails H can hand in a transfer request like DD at the last minute.
If he leaving he's not going to care what we think of him as for Man utd i am not looking at this season Harry is going to sign for the long haul and as much we would likr to see it they will come back strong if not this season.

If Maguire does a Drinkwater it won’t wash. The internals will do as they did with Mahrez and stick to their guns. Drinkwater got a move because the owners didn’t care that much. I think you’re putting Man U in a much stronger position for this than they are. It looks to me like they’re either delaying or simply not willing to pay the price tag. The latter is a choice, the former is a mistake that maybe they’ll hope to get away with.

“There is no doubt in my mind he will go”. Except there is - because you only rate his chances at 95%.

I assumed he would go at some point. He’s the sort of age that’s in the ‘might not get another chance’ bracket and Man U are in a position they haven’t eally been accustomed to since the PL was formed - I.e needing players and not, necessarily, having first pick.

Now I’m not so sure. At least not for this window.

Hopefully the speculation will be back in January as that would probably mean that he’s having a good season and Man U aren’t. It might also give us a chance to see what the other CB’s can do and whether we need to dip into the market ourselves.

The best we can hope for is that we can start pushing into the top six ourselves. If we can’t then we’ll always lose our best players and we just need to hold out for the very best fee. A decent half a season and £90m might look a bargain. A poor half a season and Man Utd might think they’ve dodged a bullet at that price and we’ve missed the opportunity to sell high.

If Maguire goes shortly then fair enough.
Just so long as we don't pay stupid money for his replacement. In other words, keep our buying fee below the 40k mark for those players being mentioned (Dunk & Tarkowski). Their wages also - no silly figures as both haven't achieved no where near as much as Harry.
If we were looking to pay upwards of 40k for those players, i would suggest keeping Maguire instead. It's a no-brainer.

*40 million quid!!!

40k would be a steal !!!! Buy!

Thinking about it, does this mean Maguire has a (slab)head cold?

This could mean that very poorly and can't train.

or it could mean:

He's gone all Mahrez!!!!!!!!

But which is it?

You'd be foolish to accept anything under £90m

They're desperate to sign him. Take them to the cleaners.

posted on 29/7/19

Given that a Harry Maguire sneeze would probably be classed a biohazard, it's likely the former.

Metro - that's the plan.

Poor Harry is day at home now under his blanket on his 3rd lemsip and box of slabhead sized tissues and all you lot can do is speculate.

Poor Harry.
