Spurs in big big trouble!

Most intelligent management would likely have done this fiscal analysis prior to building a new stadium. In fact they would have evaluated the issues that their nearby North London competitors had to deal with?

Mr. Levy, I will sit down and listen to your response.

Mr Levy is obsessed with everything Arsenal that will ruin Spurs. If I were him I would sell all the assets in the club to balance books especially Kane he will fetch decent price from Madrid.

They could easily sell kane or Ali and get 100mil for both. Way more for Kane.

This article is a wildly inaccurate wum from a deluded gooner who understands nothing about the way our club is run - which is a hell of a lot better than their club is run. I won’t even bother explaining to him how the finances are actually working, it’s in other posts and he’s probably too simple to understand. Arsenal meanwhile are begging for players on loan with no buyout option and signing a guy who’s just had a stinker in the AFCON for silly money that they’re spreading over 5 years - do they think this is facking BrightHouse or something? Bloke will be drawing his pension and they’ll still be paying off the transfer fee. Joke club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You have to admit though, you do have to be a bit 'special' to support Tottenham...

You have to drive a mini cab or work in a fried chicken shop to support Arsenal. Either that, or be a plastic internet fan who couldn’t find North London on a map, which is largely true of the fan base on here. Proper fans don’t choose who they support, it’s in their blood.

Looters lane was always empty...when the novelty wears off at the new WHL then you will see the halfempty stadium for most of the matches๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

The biggest problem with this sharticle is that it ignores the simple fact that Spurs recorded the highest 1 year profit in football history last year and the only player sale that contributed towards that was Moussa Dembele who went for circa £10m. Yet the OP reckons we have financial difficulty.

The loan repayments are at circa £50m but the match day revenue for the year will be circa £100m. Then you have the NFL deal, worth around £10m a season. Our new Shirt sponsorship deal over the next 8 years is worth £40m a season. We haven’t sold the grounds naming rights yet but I would be surprised if we got less than £30m a season. Then you need to add the huge TV revenue and CL money. In all it shows how very easy it will be for Spurs to pay off the ground ahead of time.

Our wage bill is approx half of Arsenal’s and dwarfed by the rest of the top 6 - this isn’t due to financial constraints anymore but by Levys design - this I think does hold us back with transfers, however I can’t knock Levy for running a tight ship.

The single biggest factor in us struggling to buy players this summer in my opinion is that we are going for top quality, permanent deals at good value. When you are going for those players negotiations tend to be a lot more difficult and protracted.

I honestly can't see anyone paying 100m for Alli. He isn't that good IMO.

Kane would be far more than 100m though.

As a neutral this article sounds like a load of bllocks. Spurs are clearly a well run club. I think their wage structure could be a massive barrier to proper success though. I imagine you will do something like FSG have with us which is fairly strict basic salaries and then huge bonuses for success. Just due to having a successful year our player wages rose 25%!!! But then you're paying for success and nothing less.

What spurs have to resist is smashing a stupid wage down to get a player in as there are quite a few of your current players who would be justified asking for more.

OP is amusing in his understanding of finance

That said though some Spurs fans are obviously completely deluded if the think that paying of a stadium debt is some cake walk. Regardless of Levy being business savvy and whatever deals you expect to make, Spurs WILL be ruled out of competing financially. And unlike Arsenal, Spurs won't be seeing CL money for the next decade. They will be lucky to see another 2 seasons of it.

Spending power isn't the club's only problem either. Recruitment is an issue clearly. I mean even with no CL football for Arsenal this season and Spurs reaching the final last year. Two young players have still chosen to play for Arsenal. Bright up and coming talent being willing to turn down CL football at your club to go to one without, will be a huge problem when you have recruit with less than you have to attract younger cheaper players because you can't spend so much on transfers.

Not saying Spurs will be broke or in any dire strait. Levy smart enough to bring the club through it. But some Spurs fans need to get a grip of reality. It will not be as easy as getting a naming deal and some cash from Nike, bish bash bosh, job done, business as usual. You've got some hard times ahead. Best figure that out now, that way you won't feel mad about it when it restricts the team development and results on the pitch.
