Paper Talk: Man United

“Ex Juventus, Tottenham and Swansea striker Llorente could be brought in after the deadline if Lukaku moves to Inter.“

Which club is this referring to?

I still think we might bring in one more this week but am amazed there’s no mention of a midfielder.

posted on 7/8/19

He played for those teams and now is a free agent. That's what it is referring to.

Could be brought in? By who?!

I hope they’re not talking about us!

posted on 7/8/19

They are. Though these are gossip, so don't take it seriously. I read somewhere that he has been offered terms by spurs but on a much lower wage. There are a few free agents knocking about right now, Andy Carroll, Danny Welbeck, and Daniel Sturridge. Surprisingly no one has signed them yet due to their wage demands and injury record.

Unsurprisingly*

Can you imagine the reaction if we signed him?

He'll be a Lukaku and Fellaini replacement rolled into one.

With signings alreadyade and talk of the likes of Dybala, Fernandes and Coutinho to spurs and arsenal don't be surprised to see us left behind in 5th or 6th again.

I'm feeling positive about making strides forward, but if (big of) they can pull these off I think we're in trouble

Are they linked with Arsenal? From what I know they're linked with defenders now, one from RBL on Germany for 60m and 25m for Tierney. If they get both in, they'll have improved their weakest area.

Spurs seem to be looking for an Eriksen replacement if any one of those are to move and they'll need to sell him before they can get finalised a deal for any of them.

indeed it would be a coup for Europa League club Utd to get such an experienced Champions League performer.

We already have a few of those already, Devonshire. You guys could probably do with players who don't bottle it when the pressure is on.

I just hope Ed offers him the £300k per week he's worth and Llorente doesn't under sell himself in negotiations.

says the team after Spurs' Eriksen and Llorente

posted on 7/8/19

They want to win things. That's the difference between us. Even when we're not as good, we're still a better bet for winning things. Best Tottenham team ever and all they have to show for themselves is a CL final defeat.

@AndyMitten - MUFC had a few discussions with Eriksen but they're not ongoing. MU rate him but, tallying with sources in Spain, his focus is on Madrid.

Coutinho and upamecano are linked with arsenal.

Tbh, being linked with Llorente is the new reality of supporting United.

Hardly the worst shout for a 3rd backup/plan B

We are not gonna sell Lukaku and bring in some top striker, Ole clearly rates Rashy/Martial as strikers.

Why would Arsenal want or need Countinho, offensively they seem fine, it’s clear that their need for a CB is far more important.

I reckon Spurs are only willing to sell Eriksen because he’s a free agent next season and it makes more sense financially to replace him now than then. But it isn’t essential for them to do so and they haven’t replaced him yet either.

I'd rather Greenwood as 3rd back up.

Llorente was poor for Spurs, couldn't be relied on to score goals when Kane was out, they end up playing wingers up front instead (Son/Moura).

Eriksen was poor last season but a told potch he wants a new challenge by all accounts.

I'm not sure there's anything to this, if there is we will likely sell Pogba I reckon.

Agree.

If we want a lump stick Maguire up top for the last 5

Losing Herrera too (I don't count Fellaini), and Matic getting worse every month.

I wouldn’t say Eriksen was poor last season, he got the second highest assists in the league and was important in them reaching the CL final. He wanted to move to Real but Real decided against it and he never kicked up a fuss. I get why Spurs would think to replace him now because they can get a fee now, but it isn’t essential for them to do so and he’s still be an important player for spurs if they did keep him this season.
