Drinkwater to Burnley 😳

At least he will actually play at Burnley. He hasn't actually been a footballer for about 2 years.

Apparently it might be pronounced "Prart". As in T...
erm... or as in F...
oh.
Sh...
No, that's not...

Hypermart. As in Hypermart.

It's pronounced Pratt.
Definitely.
Without a shadow of doubt.
Oh OK, that's how Stringer said it on the radio.
Must be right then.

Joby - if anyone touches your imaginary sister just let me know and I’ll take them out for you.

Nobody messes with my Joby or his made up family.

I think Stringer, I hate to say it, is partially right here.

Due to his Flemish background, I think original pronunciation would be

Prat, but with a slightly delayed emphasis on the soft ‘p’.

p-rat.

Possibly, regional accents may make it a ‘rart’ similar to ‘barth’ for ‘bath’ in the southern UK (or Leicester if you are interviewing for a posh job - like at Nando’s or some-ut)

I did have a quick look at Flemish pronunciation, seemed to me as if it should sound something like
prri-et

No doubt we will find out before long.

Yes. There will never be any consistency and various people will struggle through on the Radio Leicester phone in with variations of Prat and Pret. I think anything more nuanced like pra-art or p-rat will never enter the consciousness of the vast majority.

A bit like when Alan Young used to take half and hour to spit: “Key-Nock-eeeee-aaaarrrtttt” over the airwaves as we all shuddered or hid behind the sofa.

Merseysidefox ... "Could be wrong and Rodgers just likes a squad of 50 midfielders and no defenders, but I like to overthink everything!"

Celtic fan in peace (my missus is from Leicester!) ... You're actually pretty close to the money with that comment, mate! BR stockpiled midfielders with us to a ridiculous extent, to the utter neglect of our defence. Also apparently was told to bolt when he made a deadline day bid for our Callum McGregor (who he rates hugely) ... yep, another central midfielder.

Interesting season ahead for you guys. First full season with Brendan, which should work out great. It's beyond that when the players will start to spot the constant David Brent-isms, and realise he couldn't set up a team to defend if his life depended on it, but that's down the line. Is he still saying "Like I say" in every other sentence?

Didn’t Celtic have the best defensive record in the league for the last 3 seasons?

As a fan on the Office and American office, I can’t wait for any Brent-ism quotes!

KTF1 ... Yes, we did have the best defensive record domestically, but that's not exactly hard! We were often found wanting in Europe. Our inability to defend set pieces was ridiculous ... tended to get away with it mainly in Scotland (due to lack of quality finishing), but the weakness was glaring. It wasn't just our defensive shape though (or lack of it), it was just that BR didn't seem to prioritise DEFENDING at all ... in training/tactics, game management, or player recruitment. We were crying out for a RB who didn't need a zimmer to get up and down the park for about 5 transfer windows!

In general, our football in BR's first season was superb ... 2nd season pretty meh ... 3rd season (until he fooked off leaving us in the lurch) was absolutely mindnumbingly dull, passing it to death across the back 4/keeper.

Good luck for the season ahead though ... "Like I say".

Like I say is definitely used a lot. Like I say.
