Have to say the 1994 list looks better.

04 is an underrated year imo.

Some good comedies came out that year.

1990 was good

Goodfellas
Home Alone
Pretty Woman
Pacific Heights
Misery
Total Recall
Millers Crossing
Ghost
Awakenings
Jacobs Ladder
Die Hard 2
Kindergarten Cop
Another 48hrs

Think you’re stretching a bit with Kindergarten Cop and another 48hrs, but not a bad list all the same

Napoleon Dynamite
Saw
Shark Tale
Shrek 2

Not exactly littered with Oscars but some great cult classics in there

There were some very funny movies in 2004 like:
Shrek 2, Team America, Lemony Snicket, Harold and Kumar and many more. I even liked Shark Tale and Mean Girls

I wasn't a fan of that Frat Pack era though, never found them anywhere near as funny as the 80s and 90s guys like Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy, Bill Murray, Jim Carrey etc.. however Anchorman was decent and Dodgeball was surprisingly funny

Some of the others I couldn't take like: Along Came Polly, Meet the Fockers, Starsky and Hutch etc.

Also, ignoring the Frat Pack, there were some comedies I just didn't like at all. Napolean Dynamite, White Chicks, EuroTrip, You Got Served etc.

However, still a very good year for movies and I can't think of a year where more movies have come out. The list of movies in 2004 are endless.

Yeah I guess you had to have been in your teens to enjoy those movies...just consisting of testosterone and ignorance lol.

I think you're underrating Starsky & Hutch and Napolean Dynamite though.

posted on 13/8/19

Yes, I suppose being early-ish 20s in 2004, I was a bit over those kinds of movies.

Starsky and Hutch had it's moments and as I never watched the series, never got some of the references

Napolean Dynamite however, I really wanted to like it, just couldn't get into it at all. It was like a watched the whole movie and missed the joke. I kept waiting for something, anything to happen where I felt entertained, but I wasn't. I'm sure it is funny, maybe just wasn't my cup of tea.

Nah, I can't be having a list with multiple Ben Stillers.

Also, how can you use 2004 and not include the likes of Downfall or Shaun of The Dead?

1999
The Matrix
Sixth Sense
The Green Mile
Fight Club
Bone Collector
Sleepy Hollow
Blair Witch Project
Payback
The Talented Mr. Ripley (ok, I haven't seen this, maybe an assumption)

Office Space
Austin Powers 2
Toy Story 2
American Pie
Analyze This
10 Things I hate About You
Life
Election
Notting Hill
Mystery Men
Bowfinger
Mickey Blue Eyes
Galaxy Quest

Star Wars Episode 1
The Mummy
13th Warrior
Bicentennial Man
Deep Blue Sea
Tarzan

Surely 1999 wins. I'm sure not all of these films are great movies, but a pretty impressive selection of films.

What are you laughing at? I'm being serious!

posted on 13/8/19

That was quite funny

Am I alone in thinking that "Good Morning Vietnam" is absolute cringe

I did like Robin Williams films, but this was too much. So many of his "jokes" fell flat on their face. I just didn't find the movie funny at all

Lots of great movies in 1987 though, loved Robocop and also loved Untouchables too. Too many classics to name

I also liked 3 men and a baby, Child's Play, Adventures in Babysitting

Someone, anyone, find me a better Arm Wrestling Movie than Over The Top.

You can't, because OTT has the added emotional depth of a truck driver father and son rebuilding their relationship in the wake of the mothers death, while successfully competing in an arm wrestling championship, with the dream of setting up a trucking company so as he can work independently and no longer be beholding to The Man.

The songs were great too in OTT.

The boy was annoying though

And it's made by Golan Globus, giants of 1980s straight to video gold

I don;t actually remember the music. Might have to rewatch this week.
