I think Spurs fans need to come back to earth ever so slightly. I'm pretty neutral, i like Spurs but they have done no more than the absolute bare minimum this summer. Talk of catching Liverpool or City isn't realistic.

Replaced Dembele
Got a replacement for Eriksen
Added Sessegnon
Lost first choice RB without replacing
Lost back up striker without replacing
Bought Clarke and loaned out.

Still comfortably the 3rd best team but Arsenal have improved a lot more over the window. Still won't have enough to catch Spurs but should see off Chelsea and United.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Liverpool had one good season, previously Spurs had always finished above Liverpool for much of the decade, Catching Liverpool is very realistic. Spurs have improved a fair bit in the transfer market. Two really big signings, and none of their better players leaving. I would be very surprised if Spurs are not on par with Liverpool at the very least this season, their team revolves around their front three and VVD, any sort of injuries to those four, would leave them short.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs haven't improved a fair bit in my mind. Lost the first choice RB and not replaced him, lost back up striker.

Eriksen will still go to Europe in this window imo and Lo Celso will need to hit the ground running to be an adequate replacement as he's not at the same level.

Liverpool are considerably stronger than Spurs imo, both have stood still but Spurs spent to do so.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Trippier was never out best right back, and he was getting in the team by default. So he will not be missed. Spurs have strengthened the midfield big time, and with a fully fit squad will definitely be better than last season, which was not that bad anyway.

Liverpool have stood still in the transfer market, and cannot expect such a favourable season as last year, with very few injuries to their key players. Take Salah and VVD out of their team for any length of time and see how they cope.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How have the strengthened the midfield big time?

Eriksen is better than Lo Celso and unless you plan on keeping both which i'm almost certain Levy doesn't.

Ndombele replaces Dembele. A slight improvement probably because he is fit enough to play more often.

Like for Like replacements in midfield.

Expectations for Spurs if you are honest should be to consolidate 3rd and do well in the cups.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We've added two very good Midfielders and sold none. Pretty simple really
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Mind boggles that some people argue when they have clearly not even watched those two players.

welcome back Sandy, if and it looks very likely we loose Eriksen then I dont think we have really progressed enough to challange the top 2 expect a similar outcome to last season a fight for CL places, other clubs around us have spent big money too of course that doesnt always equal success
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Eriksen is still there mate. He had the chance for United apparently, so expect him to stay this season now. If he wants to go on a free next season, then so be it. Another season out of him probably mitigates the £50 million the club may have got this season.

I certainly do not think Liverpool are of any different level to Spurs. They had one good season last season, have not strengthened this season, so would expect Spurs to at least match them this season. Just my opinion, but I don`t think Liverpool`s squad is as good as Spurs, and with a few injuries like Spurs had last season, will not be losing only one game this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
european window still open till end of month Eriksen or Toby or Rose could still go anywere untill thats closed
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Could do, but pretty certain none will go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sandy you were pretty certain Spurs would win the league last season too, with a bit too spare !!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Er no I gave an opinion that Spurs should be challenging after top three finishes in the previous three seasons. Nothing wrong with that. I could not legislate for the unprecedented injury list for the second half of the season. Even the CL final Spurs went into with crocks all over the place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh Sandy

The CL final was the first time all season that we had a fully fit squad

Agree about the rest of the season though, we were savaged by injuries at times.

Really hope we get better luck this year, it makes a big differnece

It will wipe out all their offside goals, but there will still be some mug in the VAR studio giving them the benefit of doubt with all the other decisions, just like on the pitch.

We also have young players like Parrot coming in to strengthen the squad and Winks is getting better

Considering we won the first ever CL to use VAR, I think you're putting all your eggs in one basket if you think it'll lead to us crashing down the table.

What will be a good season for Spurs?

The PL and the CL might be out of reach I think it's fair to say, and so targeting one of the domestic cups should be a priority as well as top 4, as we stand now. Obviously priorities may change depending on how we do as the season progresses.

Therefore a good season in my eyes would be one of the domestic cups, top 4 with an improved points total (should be 80 points or more) and another good CL run.

Been following JA606 for a while so decided to finally register.

My take on the transfer window is that we have improved the midfield but it still depends on the potential departures of certain players, current net spend is around £75m I cannot see that staying the same by the end of this month imo.

So if a few ppl leave then is the depth any better than before????

"Expect Man City to take the title again, but Spurs should be up there, and Liverpool will not be getting a free run at 2nd place like last season. I have had my usual small pre season wager on Spurs at 16/1 each way, 1st or 2nd.
