Enough excuses now for Martial, I have argued the case for that guy throughout his time here. If he does not step up this season, he should get shipped.

Agreed. Got a free ride from a lot of fans until towards the end of last season.

It wasn’t all Jose’s fault.

Rashford gets a bit of leeway (from myself too) because of the effort he puts in.

If he has an off day where things don't quite come off, he'll still run his nuts off and the defence will never have an easy day. Which could open up space for others who may be in better scoring form.

Martial if he has an off day has literally nothing else to offer.

Ole has said we'll see a different Martial this season in terms of workrate, pre-season eluded to that somewhat, but we'll see when the season starts.

Rashford has gotten an easy ride from the media st times.

Martial did look to be working harder in pre season games. Surely Ole has had words.

Yes, it is a big season for both players. They both need to take the extra responsibility on and deliver. They are the main men now.

Martial I think will be fine as long as we puts in the effort. He is a good finisher and I expect to see him getting into more goal scoring positions this season.

Rashford on the other hand needs to work on his decision making and also his finishing - maybe cut out some of the long shots.

- Aguero/Jesus/Sterling
- Kane/Son
- Salah/Mane/Firmino
- Aubameyang/Laca/Pepe

Vs

- Rashford/Martial

That's my concern. We're comfortably 5th on that list and by a margin.
IMO our League battle is us Vs Arsenal for 4th and that will be close.

Can't see Chelsea competing with Frank in charge and no Hazard

Apparently in training (full match situations) Maguire has been seen being sent up field along side Martial/Rashford for goal kicks and late attacking situations (plan B).

You still have Sanchez. Who knows he could come good this season. Still think there is a player there

You guys have definitely lost your pulling power over the last 6 to 7 years. Seems like players will only come to united now if they recieve ridiculous wages.

OP - no doubt. We need one if not both of them to take a big leap this season if we're going to get fourth I feel. Not too convinced that will happen but we'll see. I still think there's huge potential in both of them but now is the time they need to start fulfilling it.

For what its worth though, I hope we give Martial his number 9 shirt back if he still wants it.

Good luck finding somebody else to pay him £250k a week

Wasn’t the main issue with Martial losing his number simply about him registering AM9 as some sort of trademark then looking stupid when he was no longer #9?

I mean if that’s still an issue for him then let him have it but hopefully he’s past it.

I think that was part of it. To be fair, even without that, it was pretty poor form to take the shirt number from him after he'd been given it.

I still think he can score goals trough the middle to be honest, he's never really been played there.

On the wings he's a total liability.

The only position I'd give Sanchez game time in (off the bench) would be in the role that's given to Lingard when we play the split strikers (Martial and Rashford). He couldn't do any harm there losing the ball in dangerous positions, he's still got good work rate and movement like Lingard, and he's probably a better finish than him too. He just needs to get out of the habit of passing it straight to the opposition every time he gets the ball

posted on 9/8/19

True, I’m happy with him as a back up. We pretty have no choice now anyway.

How many goals does anybody think that Rashford and Martial can score a season together?

I think a bit more than that. Assuming we are talking in the PL, I think around the 35 mark. That is where we realistically need them to be. Jesse, Greenwood, Chong, Mata, James etc. all need to be aiming for 3-5, depending on how much they play. I think Greenwood might get 7-8.
