Marcelo Bielsa has refused to put a time frame on a return to action for Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts, simply revealing that his recovery is ongoing.
The 20-year-old forward has played no part in the Whites pre-season preparation this summer due to injury issues.

Roberts missed both legs of the play-off semi-final defeat to Derby County in May and underwent a minor operation to drain fluid from his knee.

Bielsa hinted last week that he had undergone another operation in a bid to speed up his rehab, and revealed that it was another issue causing his continued absence.

The 64-year-old, though, kept his cards close to his chest when discussing the problem, simply stating that he will begin the final part of his "recovery process" in the near future.

"Tyler Roberts is a very important player for us," Bielsa said.

"We miss him a lot and the contribution he has for the team and him as a person too. He’s an offensive player with some very clear capabilities, so we are missing him.

"We would like him to be in our unit. We would like to have him now with us for two reasons... the football things, but the most important thing is how he is as a human.

"Now he has another injury which is going to help him to recover. Then from this injury he will start the last part of the recovery process.

"He has been working very, very hard and been very professional during this recovery."

Pressed for an answer over a return date, he said: "I have one idea, but when we are talking about medical things it is not right to tell anything before it happens."

Gutted for Roberts, Looking at the squad, I thought he’ll have his chance this season.. he’s going to take some time before he’s able to take that chance

It's a case of managing expectations on all fronts. I'm sure he'll return soon and we'll have a stronger squad for it.

Another Orta failure, he should’ve foreseen all of these injuries

A real shame after the second half of the season where he showed moments of quality. We'll need him as the season goes on so that we can rest Pablo from time to time.

Hopefully it's just an unlucky period for him and he doesn't become one of those that show promise but you just can't get them out on the field.

Not too bothered, don't rate him.

Am afraid your opinion does not count as MC rates him highly, so he knows what he's talking about !

Showed against West Brom what he can do, think he could be a real asset in 2nd half of season providing he gets fit. Always looks forward on the pitch, he's young and could turn into an excellent player.

It's a shame and worrying as well - 2 operations in a short space of time. Hopefully he's back soon and at the same level as before.

I really like Roberts, talented lad and still a kid. Definitely comes into his own when there’s a bit of space to play in line the West Brom game.

The injury he got when he first came was a collision in training on his first day.... He’s not had much luck. Let’s hope it’s just that and not as rob says, that he’s one of those guys who gets permanently hampered by injuries.

If Roberts stays fit, he will end up a right player.

Rate him highly.

We’re now left with glass back Branford and a rookie.

Going to need huge luck

Think MB likes Costa up top too LIW, but yeah, losing Roberts is a huge blow.. let’s hope Bamford lives up to his price tag 👍

Okay, it’s these type of opportunities as an owner.....

You see a player injured that is clearly quality, offer him an extended contract on slightly better terms.

Tie him in.
