There’s A Reason Why We Can’t Score

Agree to be honest

Teams park the bus and know we're rubbish at defending set pieces and have no pace at the back so just wait for their opportunity.
We needed to buy an Afobe/Pukki/Gayle who's a handful and a constant threat up front to distract from our other threats.
Not sure we've got the personnel to reach the playoffs right now.

Didnt you score 3 last week?

Have to agree sadly. If your main striker cannot be relied on to get 25+ goals (a la Wood) then you need more contributions from elsewhere. You need a couple of players chipping in with a dozen each and then a couple of others with 10 or more. Then you should be getting at least 5 or 6 each from CBs getting headers from corners. Regrettably we are not getting these contributions. Our corners today were poor, very little threat to Forest's goal. In open play loads of possession as usual but again little goal threat. Lets hope Costa can create some panic in opposing defences, score a few himself and make openings for Bamford or Eddie to get the goals we deserve from our dominance

Also many say KP is a fantastic holding midfielder so why the need to play another holding midfielder?
It’s madness.
We will surely concede too many from set pieces meaning we have to score more.

What about Harrison?
Or Costa?
Or Nketiah?
Or Clarke?
Or Phillips?
Or Dallas?
Or Alioski?
Or Shackleton?
Or Douglas?

Or are you just ignoring what doesn't fit your narrative like the rest of the people on the internet who think they know better than everyone else?

....except Adobe/Pukki/Gayle thrive on attacking the last man or similarly sparse defences.....they seldom have had to deal with the packed ‘parked-the-bus’ defences we have to face, so tbh, i’m not so sure any one of them have evidenced particular skills to unlock those type of defences.

...i’m not sure there is a particular type of player that could guarantee....except maybe a goal poacher like Sharp, but then there needs to be more balls into the 6 yard box....and i think there’s maybe been a sign of more of those coming in in the first two matches this season compared with than last.

not the squad.

TallandUseless
That was a poor attempt to criticise my article.

Agree promotion, just because we love our manager doesn’t mean we can’t express an opinion.. alioski gor Harridon? With Clarke or Costa on the bench? .. 1 - 0.. get the game killed off with fresh pace down the wings.. both explosive players and far more capable than Alioski...

FFS !!

Actually don’t mind this side away from home

But agree with promotion, not enough attacking players

Fair enough. I'll admit I went in a bit too hard and I apologise for that.

I just wouldn't be so quick to write off the squad after only 2 games, where we've scored 4 goals, and have remained unbeaten.

Not enough options on the bench.
The players coming on are too similar to the ones on the field.
Forest brought on two tall players and we brought on Alioski and Costa. Had the game gone on another 10 minutes i think we would have lost.
No option to bring on a tall defender or attacker to counter the opposition and see out a game.
Forest had 3 corners and nearly scored twice.

All players who came in are as good as or better according to Angus.

Exactly. Lack of height means we are susceptible at corners or set pieces. I think after seeing the final few games of last season and today opponents will all come to ER and play as Forest did today. Defend deep, be well organised and hit us on the break or from set pieces. They know we are vulnerable at the back and cannot break down a packed defence.
Unless we start turning our dominance into goals it is looking like a repeat of last season sadly

Tall I’ m not writing off the squad
Just wish he would change the team a touch

Promotion, come on then lad, what should our starting line up be?

posted on 10/8/19

That’s probably impossible right now.
I can assure you 100% not playing KP and Forshaw in midfield.
I’m not a genius. I’m fact I’m useless.
It’s just balance

So you can't pick a team but MB is wrong?

I see Billy Sharp "bundled the ball home from short range today" according to the BBC report on their game. I bet he would not be missing the opportunities Bamford is. A fox in the box type striker like him is what we lack. I lost count of the number of low crosses into Forest's box today where there was nobody on hand to get a shot in.

Well Promotion you've just destroyed the balance by
not playing Forshaw with Phillips. The best asset
Leeds have as a team is possession. Both these
players almost guarantee possession and control of
midfield, both good at short and long passes, both
good at interventions.
Ok drop Forshaw so what do we do, extra striker?
Fair enough maybe score more goals but we lose
the possession and control of midfield, our biggest
asset...we have to play longer balls, hit and miss
football, Bielsa wants to play possession football
which hopefully translates into goals.

NJS, I though football was about scoring goals
Maybe I’m naive.
Controlling the game doesn’t win football matches
Scoring goals does !

Kamara of course I can pick a team
I can’t pick the best team
I’ve not seen enough of some players
Also every match has different requirements.
