I think realistically we have lost him. He clearly wants a new challenge, if he were to run down his contract at a minimum Juve would come in on crazy wages. Eriksen on a free at 28 is probably going to attract Barca and Madrid too.
There is little incentive for him to sign. He will be a regular for us even if he doesn't sign. If he plays well he is likely to get a big move next summer. No point in him signing a deal with a realease fee, that just makes him more unattractive to the clubs he wants to go to.
If we get an offer in the next few weeks of £40m+ we need to take it imo. Go all out to get Dybala in January and hope lo celso gets up to speed quickly.
Spurs are not offering him anything that's better than waiting to leave on a bosman.
He'll get a huge signing on fee, more than 200k a week and a better chance to win trophies if he leaves on bosman.
Spurs have done well in other areas but when it comes to contracts, they are dropping the ball and eventually Spurs will pay dearly for the way Levy handles player contracts.
All Spurs' stars are underpaid when compared to other clubs. Offering Eriksen 160k a week is a joke
Some of your best players already winding down contracts and Spurs losing out on hundreds of millions in possible transfer fees because they couldn't get these players to sign extensions because the offer is peanuts.
Would have been better to pay high wages, sell players and keep the team refreshed. Spurs will lose players for free but will need hundreds of millions to replace said players because of their wage structure.
Eriksen is pretty much guaranteed a move as a free agent. Clubs will be more than happy to offer him £200k+ a week themselves and signing on fees.
Also, in Italy from next year if you commit to working there for 2 years or more there are favourable tax codes where the persons income is tax free from anywhere between 70-90% of wages depending on location (higher in Southern regions).
The only incentive/ worry for Eriksen would be suffering a massive injury which discourages clubs but even then i'm sure they will consider him taking into account the zero transfer fee and prime age.

With Eriksen, it's not about financial side only. If this was the case, he would've left by now. He is looking to move to Spain ideally, and to Real Madrid specially.
Our players are not all winding down their contracts. I am not sure where you get that from? Kane, Dele, Moura and Son for example aren't winding down their contract?
Some people take some info and twist it
Toby and Verts are of certain age, and therefore this could be their last contract so the club and player are in negotiations. Nothing fancy about that, but to say they are ALL winding down their contracts?

Don't know about that. It makes business sense to sell at an offer like that but that's several months (including Jan because we know Levy will buy a replacement on the last day) without that extra strength in depth with many big and important games to play, and we can't even guarantee we'd get Dybala then either.
Sure we'd probably still get top 4 without Eriksen for that duration, only we need to be going for more than that and you never know when injuries can strike.
If the offer is true then Levy is getting desperate to keep him and if we are then we may as well keep him no matter what.

Offer him 200k P/W with 10m signing on fee - insert the clause that he can leave for Barca/Real for a nominal fee should an offer arise. He’ll renew. The nominal fee covers his signing on fee.
It’s never about the money.. come on.. 99% of the time its always about the money.

Question is though why sign a release clause if he is determined he wants a new challenge and life elsewhere? As mentioned, if he is looking to move for a change of scenery and maybe to a club more competitive then there is nothing we can do or offer that is better than him running down his contract.
Although a hefty sum to you or I Eriksen (and his agent) will look at 200k a week and compare it to what the likes of Ozil or Ramsey are on and think its not enough.
No way Poch will give regular first team action to a guy that has already committed himself to another club

I don't think it is just about the money with Eriksen. Truth is he's nearing 30, has been with us for years and hasn't won a trophy. He will inarguably have more chance of that at Barcelona or Madrid.
You don't reminisce with your kids or grandkids about how much money you used to earn in football. It will be about the achievements.

It gets right up my rathole when a player leaves a club in order to win silverware (so they say).
It begs the question why not stay and contribute to winning some where you are?
Lets face it if he joins Juve, Bayern or PSG then winning the league is far more of an expectation than an achievement these days. At least if he ends up at Real he'll have a hard task on his hands but I'm sure the 4/500k a week he'll earn will keep him interested.

One thing’s for certain - if he doesn’t sign a deal then signs a pre-contract with another club in Jan then we can consider him gone from Xmas onwards - all this stuff about getting one last season out of him is pie in the sky. No way Poch will give regular first team action to a guy that has already committed himself to another club, ahead of player season he believes are committed to his vision. Eriksen will be reduced to a virtual spectator once it becomes 100% clear that that’s his intention.

Agreed Ace. Further the fact that poch brought him on at the weekend, told me that the situation is far from any conclusion yet. If it was, he would’nt have been even in the squad.
