Ridiculous. You don’t need to use your hands at all other than to press the voice button on the steering wheel which is less motion than flicking an indicator on. Apple or Android car play and then you just do everything else via voice control. Maybe they should ban having conversations with passengers too? They can simply look at the phone data and see if there's been a call made/received within certain time frame.

It's absolutely correct that speaking on the phone distracts you from what you should be doing - which is controlling a machine that has the potential to kill people.

However, an unenforceable law is a bad law, and I cannot see how this law would be enforceable.

I don't think it's the controls that are the problem - it's the attention to the call rather than the driving.

I've experienced it myself to be honest, particularly on a work call.

Whether there are other distractions doesn't really change that.

They should ban everything tbh

No passengers
No calls
No blinking
