Maybe the reason Kiko comes for every ball is because hes been told to due to a lack of height when defending corners/set pieces, it certainly will be heart in the mouth stuff, i have joked we wont score from a corner all season and hey presto we score but we wont score a header and need to work on other options (wheres the set piece coach when you need him!!), thought they were playing for penalties or to catch us on the break till we scored, thought it was a decent performance and Costa and Eddie give us options we didn't have last season, someone said to me on Saturday they thought Costa didn't look fit and i remember MB implying he would have to work a bit harder to get in the side but he can play no doubt about it.
if we have a bit of luck with injuries this team will go close i think but the lack of cover at CB worries me also lack of height against a physical team,

I had that same thought about Kiko coming off his line due to the lack of height at the back.if he is being told to do that and the defenders know I can understand it more.just wish he would do it better.

Also I noticed a good tactical switch in the first half when Clarke and Costa swapped wings and we then started to get through.good in game management that.

How Costa does this season I think will be the difference between top two and missing out as someone said on another thread.he will he key and might help prevent playing Pablo into the ground again

How is it daft playing a player who can play CB and fid a good job at CB at CB?
———

Against a limited league 2 side.

I’m not taking anything away from the lad but he isint a centre back.

Tonight we couldn’t even play a third choice centreback, because we don’t have one, what we have is a right back who couldn’t play there tonight, cause he was at rightback, and a leftback youth player playing there.

That is worrying when we have a full season to go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's not third choice CB. He probably isn't even forth choice CB. And if Bielsa thinks he can play there, someone who has seen far more of him than anyone here, then I'll take his opinion over yours

Maybe you could just take the club and staffs opinion over everything all the time and never share your opinion on these forums ever again.

For some that would be an appealing thought ….

I have considered it because of the negativity spouted by people like you

I decided that if I leave then there would be noone to brighten your seemingly sad, unhappy existences as Leeds United fans.

Actually people were having a nice friendly debate on here about what they thought of last night before you came along with your unnecessary sniddy comments.

So again, do us all a favour and do one.

You do realise that we played three at the back last night don’t you?

In no way was what I said snidy. I was questioning a silly comment. If things like that don't happen then commenters carry on saying silly things.

I'm more than happy to stay here. If you don't like it then why don't you do one.

It was and you know it.

Also he played centreback so go ahead and tell me who is ahead of him then.

Third choice is Berardi who couldn’t play there due to him being at right back

Who is the other one ahead of him and if they are ahead of him why didn’t they play last night?

So stop lying about your pathetic little sniddy remark being just that.

Berardi was playing centre back you know

Phillips. Berardi. Ayling.

Would say are all probably likely to play CB ahead of Davis in the league.

And you just proved my point.

Our options for cover at the back include three players two of which are considered our best players in their original positions as well as one who is better in another position.

That’s worrying, it was a problem for us last year when we had to play players out of position and we have done zero to rectify that at the back.

Bielsa is stubborn and wrong in my opinion. Playing KP and Ayling and Berardi is nonsense.
Play them in their best positions.

I wasn't arguing that we shouldn't have signed another CB. I was saying that Davis isn't the third choice in that position just because he played (and did well) against Salford.

I was digging out Bielsa not you

Matty, I'm assuming you watched the game?

And you still didn't know the formation we were playing?

IMO Bielsa should have signed Ajayi. We needed another centre back and still do. Can't believe he could have had White last year but Bielsa didn't want anymore defenders. Major mistake on his part.

But you need to be able to see what formation a team is playing before making too many judgements pal

It wasn’t, but I’m not going to argue that point with you.

If you think we were not playing four at the back fair enough.

It's not an opinion.

...........Casilla

Berardi White Davis

Shack Phillips Alioski

.............Klich

Costa Nketiah Clarke

Klich and shack had very free roles and covered each other, allowing plenty of overlaps. Also at times as the game developed Shackleton & Alioski were pretty much playing alongside Klich, to make it more of a 3-1-3-3 formation.

Hence the changes. Clarke went off for McCalmont who switched places with Alioski on the left of the midfield, Alisoki moving to left Wing. He was then taken off Harrison as a like for like.

Towards the end of the game Leeds moved more to a back 4 at times. But this had Shack at right back, Berardi & Cooper in the centre and Davis on the left.
McCalmont Phillips Klich in the middle
Costa Bamford and Harrison up top.

My point is at no point in the game was Berardi at Right Back.

For all his undoubted coaching ability and reputation, I think as fans we're seeing his stubborn side too - which is possibly where he's come unstuck at previous clubs.

As real promotion contenders to go into a season with only 1 out and out CB on the books (i.e. Cooper) is a shocker for me. White looks excellent, but he's not an asset to LUFC as such. If he keeps playing like he is, his value will increase and any chance we may think we have of signing him permanently will diminish. Whether we signed Ajayi or another CB i'm not overly concerned, but another permanent recruit in that area i'm mystified we haven't addressed. Is it a MB thing or was it more down to the club saying this is all you can have?

My personal view is he likes to do things his way, to the extent that he likes to prove he can transform players to morph into positions where possibly we're under strength. To an extent he's proved he can do that, but for me it risks derailing a promotion push further down the line when/if injuries and suspensions start to bite.

I think Wenger got caught in this mindset a bit towards the end of his tenure.

And I can pull up both the Leeds app and google to show you our formation was 4-1-4-1 and talk about times in the game where it was just that.

But like I said I’m not going to go down this route with you as I just can’t be bothered with another he said, he said.

I that’s what you saw, fair enough, I disagree I move on.
