Sanchez to Roma on loan

Unless his attitude is disruptive I would much rather have him available than not.

He is one of the biggest disappointments I have known at United. I really thought we were getting a top forward, explosive and would score plenty.
I put his poor form at Arsenal down to being disillusioned and wanting to go.
How wrong I was.

I'd be happy with this. Zero confidence in the 'like a new signing' scenario, and shipping him out is healthy in terms of the impact on wage demands across the rest of the team. Instead of 'Sanchez gets that so I should have more' we reset the narrative to 'the club acknowledges it made a big mistake with Sanchez'.

Why? He offers absolutely nothing except for blocking the progress of one of the youth players by taking a seat on the bench

MU52. I too was wrong on Sanchez. I thought he regain some enthusiasm at United but he was very poor. He has been under Jose and Ole to be fair.

RR - I'd agree with that. Sometimes better to write off some money for the greater good and the message it would give. If he did start scoring at Roma then perhaps we'd even get some kind of fee for him too after his loan spell? Although, to be honest, I'd be happy just to see the club cut its losses and let him go for free. Hopefully this loan will allow us to do that.

I was the same mate. When we signed him I had him up there with De Bruyne as one of the best in the league. As you say, I thought his form at Arsenal for the last few months must have been down to the injury rather than just lack of motivation/wanting to move on. Looking back over his career, he has played a lot of football. I think that it was one injury too many and he has just got too many miles on the clock.

This, coupled with the fact that Jose dropped Martial for him when he was in great form, makes his signing one of the worst we have ever made.

I really can't see him turning things around and think it is time to get rid, but it would be hard to swallow sending him on loan and picking up a fair chunk of the wages. Would much rather let him go on a free, allowing the buying club to give him a big signing on fee to subsidise any drop in wages.

The worst thing is that even his piano playing hasn't got any better.

Was never really excited about his signing

I was personally put off by his diva attitude during that last season with Arsenal ie the playing up to the cameras when he was hooked by Wenger

Definitely the worst signing in the clubs history if not in English football

Sounds like he's still more trouble than its worth to have him around

If that's the case get rid

Sounds very much like paper nonsense

I can't help but wonder what would have happened had Sanchez gone to Peps Man City. My feeling is that his problems are more mental than physical.

If we can get him a loan deal and cover even 25% of his wage and maybe see him leave next summer that would be good business.

He is now believed to take home a staggering £505,000-per-week, meaning United have forked out £41 million since his arrival in January 2018.

That equates to roughly £8.2 million for each of the five goals he has netted throughout his 18 months at OT

A bloodsucking money grabbing Leech.

Exactly. And I'm so pleased we didn't get sucked into a repeat mistake with Dybala.

The wages are madness.

If Roma did loan him, they won't pay much more than a quarter so you're still on the hook for 3/4 and down a player. If he goes on to have a good season for Roma it might allow you to move him on next season i suppose but if not you lost his cover and paid most of his wages for him to flop in Italy.

going to be more of these Bale/Sanchez trapped scenarios with the mental wages some players get now.

What?! Sorry, but you can’t call him that mate. That’s seriously out of order.

He didn’t blackmail the club into paying him those wages, and he certainly can’t be accused of playing terribly on purpose. He’s never given any less than 100% for us. He’s usually amongst the hardest working players on the pitch.

Direct your ire at Ed, not at Sanchez. This mess isn’t his fault.

Not sure why you came to that conclusion. Although you certainly can't blame him for joining us.

I don't think we can moan about his lack of effort on the pitch (of course in training behind closed doors it could be different).

I think the main point with Sanchez is that no matter how hard he tried he just isn't good enough at the moment. It's doubtful he'll ever get it back in truth but in the 18 months he's been at OT he's been a massive disappointment. His massive contract isn't his fault though of course.

He works his absolute backside off on the pitch. I don’t think that’s even in question, is it?

Unless you think he’s playing badly on purpose?

Only 3 more seasons before he's out of contract. Chin up.

As bad as hes been, hes had a few really good moments, ie goal away at Arsenal, Fa Cup v Spurs, that comeback v Newcastle at home, I still hold hope that he could have an impact at Utd.

All memorable moments but hardly worth the outlay sadly.

Maybe as a false nine or a CF. He can longer do it out wide.

His legs have gone. Go and look at earlier clips of him. Full of dynamism, a devastating change of pace and power, skipping past players, running in behind and leaving defenders behind... He can't do that anymore. It happens to players who play at 100mph and who burst into the scene young. He's been playing top flight football for 12 or 13 years and has always been a player than runs himself into the ground everyday. Rooney was similar. Tevez and Torres too. That style has a shelf life.

Sanchez's misfortune with us hasn't been through lack of trying (on the pitch at least) - he clearly works hard. He just doesn't have what made him a top player at this level anymore, and his wages make him almost impossible to shift.

The above just goes to show just what a freak of nature (in the best possible way) Ronaldo is. Still a top player 16 years on.

the fact that he still gets to wear #7 sickens me. It's a difficult shirt to wear, and has brought misfortune to those not worthy of wearing it. That would be the first step - give him #47 and let's consider who wears it next very carefully, before just handing it off. Just for gits and shiggles, Ole could give it to Mason to really wind him up.
