I remember RDL scoring against Man U and that is it. Useless and always dove in too soon and got beat. Nathan Dyer nearly got knocked out scoring against Newcastle but was on loan I think from Swansea?

Some Leicester legends in my humble opinion;

- Keith Weller
- Gary Lineker
- Arthur Chandler
- Arthur Rowley
- Sep Smith
- Steve Walsh
- Jamie Vardy
- Dave Gibson
- Gordon Banks

You just can’t make an argument for Andy King to sit amongst that lot I don’t believe. He just doesn’t belong in that kind of company. They are special players who did special things. They didn’t all win trophies, but ticked the other boxes.

Mary the tea lady has been the absolute model of professionalism. She’s never complained and always done what was asked of her. I’d put her on a par with Banks

Aside from being a proper pro, all round decent bloke, bleeding blue, rejecting a move to Forest and being the only man to win league 1, championship
and premier league with 1 club Andy King is also Leicesters all time top scoring mid fielder and most capped international - Legend

Most capped international That’s because he plays for Wales and he’s hardly up against a raft of international talents produced by our club is he? That stat will soon disappear believe me. He’s our highest scoring midfielder by virtue of the fact that’s he been here for about 40 years and played against absolute dross for half of that

I would argue Gary Lineker played against less technically gifted opposition as well (assuming that's what you mean by absolute dross) but he is in your legend list. Gary is also a bit of a to$$er and I'd rather have a beer with Andy any day. No behavioural problems over here

I’d like to have a beer with Inglebert Humpadink so what?! Jesus is that the criteria now! Gary went and proved his class at Barcelona and Spurs - do you think Andy King would?

nah being being a bev buddy has about as much relevance to being a Leicester legend as how well you play for Barca and Spurs after leaving Leicester

The points made in my first post are what meet the necessary criteria

Except they don’t. It’s just the same points Dunge already made regurgitated and without any new arguments. Except for the fact he’s got a lot of caps for Wales. I mean wow....

How can he be a Leicester legend when most of the the fans have been dreading him making an appearance for the last 3 years

Criteria no. 5 - should be universally loved. That’s not Andy King. Good servant, very good championship player and that’s it

AND he's our all time top scoring mid fielder - you forgot that bit

I think you have a short memory BS and most of your arguments for him not being a Leicester legend seem to be based on the fact he's not started regularly in the premier league (or by your own criteria point 1 in what makes a Leicester legend - talent)

To win the premier league you must first get to the premier league! And Kingy was a massive part of that all the way from our lowest ever league position. We might be an established premier league team for now but we have not always been and might not always be - in fact we've played 62 seasons in England's 2nd tier of football compared to only 51 in the 1st tier.

Perhaps delusions of grandeur are skewing your viewpoints here. Personally I prefer to try and stay humble... not unlike a certain Leicester legend

Yeah you’re certainly coming across really humble right now, I mean not remotely smug at all when making your points

I don’t forget Kings contributions to getting us promoted, but I don’t then smear that contribution across an entirely different period of time and achievement. He was a great championship player and made good contributions to our promotion - no more so than Anthony Knockeart or Lloyd Dyer however.

The difference is, those guys wanted to move on, King stayed. Fair play to him, but he contributed very little from the moment we went up. Thinking about it, was he first choice in the championship winning season? Not sure he was - it was James and Drinkwater

The more you think about it, the more you realise that his achievements are linked to the fact that he’s been around for ages. Your reference to him being our highest goal scoring midfielder was already addressed by the fact he’s spent much of his time playing against lower level opposition. If he had done that at PL leave I’d bow down to that achievement

Interesting posts. Having read them all I'm still with Dunge rather than BS - in other words, you have the right to be wrong on this one BS.

Haha one man's smug is another man's banter.... Something I thought you were actually here for?

Yeah a lot of his legendary attributes are because he's been with us so long. But in world where a 1 club man is increasingly rare that in itself contributes to the legendary status as it showcases his sterling commitment.

You have also kinda proven my point saying if he had done what he had done in the premier league you'd bow down to that achievement so are you saying that as a club that has operated predominantly in the 2nd tier you can't be a club legend performing at that level? If so fair enough I will leave it at that, that's your opinion and you are entitled to it, but it would be one I just can't agree with.

In all up for the banter pal

I think if we had always been a second division club then I’d agree with you. The reality is that Leicester have achieved more than the likes of Millwall, we have a history of sustained periods in the top flight, coming close to winning the title in the 60s, 4 times FA cup finalists, 3 times league cup winners and now PL champions. So in that context I’d be looking for people who had really contributed to some of the most successful periods in our history. Either that or they have to have done something extraordinary

For me Andy King is a one club man - that’s a good story, but not enough to sit alongside Lineker, Weller and Banks
