If a team offered £25m for him I'd snatch their handoff. He was awful yesterday, which was a shame as I used to think he was brilliant.
I see a lot of fans want to see the back of him with the continental window still open. While I understand the sentiment the problem remains of how are we going to replace him?
CHO and Pulisic are obviously very talented but not really experienced at this level, while Pedro is a bit hit n miss as well.
Personally I don't think we can afford to let him go until we can adequately replace him, which may not be until next summer!
He's not going anywhere this season.

He was instrumental in us getting 3rd place and while he wasn't key to us getting to Baku, he certainly gave us the edge in a final that may not have gone our way without him!

I see a player who 'generally' helps us to retain possession, is normally available to receive the ball , even in the tightest positions, and move the ball on quickly.
But that's just me!
We definitely should've cashed in when Barca coughed up 50mil last year. I said it at the time and nothing's changed my mind since.
I really like Willian. In the two prominent instances where the squad downtooled for Mourinho & Conte Willian was the only player who kept up performances both times and he didn't even like one of them. But every player has a price and an opportune time to sell and that was his, at the time because it was clear (to me) that Pedro suited the 'SarriBall' philosophy far more but now he appears to be in general decline. That was our window and we missed it.
I don't really see the value in cashing-in now tbh, unless it's some crazy Chinese offer where 40-50mil comes back on the table. We need the depth in the short term.

Yes and no.
On paper yes, not being able to replace him is a huge problem. Not his physical LW position cos we have with Pulisic, but his starpower factor. I remain hopeful but I don't buy the argument that we'll rely together and become a better team without him, a different one certainly but not a better one.
But having said that this "youth revolution" thing is something we have to get out of our system, the pressure of it contributed to a good manager wanting out last year so it has to be dealt with - we need closure one way or another. I liken it to bringing Mourinho back in 2013, whether it'll work or not we need to know so we can move on. And because we're Chelsea, it wasn't going to happen without the combination of the transfer ban and losing Hazard's presence in the team. So in that respect, perfect time for him to leave (albeit because of screwy reasons).

Agreed. If we were going to pick a season not to have Hazard it's probably this one when we have both Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic ready to emerge and develop in a season where little is expected.

I personally think that if it is a pressure, it's one that's been bought on by ourselves as a club.
As I see it the pressure is something that has built over many seasons and managers. It's something that if done properly shouldn't have compromised the functionality of the team, it's not unrealistic to identify and integrate at least two from the academy every couple of years.
They either make it or get moved on and make way for the next candidate. We're now in a position of having to fast track more than we'd like at one time, to make up short comings in a squad that needed surgery two years ago.
I think that Mount, James and CHO are all going to be very good players but we won't see the full potential of them this season hence, the pressure on them to produce now, as I see it.

I see a player who 'generally' helps us to retain possession, is normally available to receive the ball , even in the tightest positions, and move the ball on quickly.

We definitely should've cashed in when Barca coughed up 50mil last year. I said it at the time and nothing's changed my mind since.
I really like Willian. In the two prominent instances where the squad downtooled for Mourinho & Conte Willian was the only player who kept up performances both times and he didn't even like one of them. But every player has a price and an opportune time to sell and that was his, at the time because it was clear (to me) that Pedro suited the 'SarriBall' philosophy far more but now he appears to be in general decline. That was our window and we missed it.
I don't really see the value in cashing-in now tbh, unless it's some crazy Chinese offer where 40-50mil comes back on the table. We need the depth in the short term.

Hazard really couldn’t have picked a worse time to leave. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but you’d have been better off selling him last summer.

Yes and no.
On paper yes, not being able to replace him is a huge problem. Not his physical LW position cos we have with Pulisic, but his starpower factor. I remain hopeful but I don't buy the argument that we'll rely together and become a better team without him, a different one certainly but not a better one.
But having said that this "youth revolution" thing is something we have to get out of our system, the pressure of it contributed to a good manager wanting out last year so it has to be dealt with - we need closure one way or another. I liken it to bringing Mourinho back in 2013, whether it'll work or not we need to know so we can move on. And because we're Chelsea, it wasn't going to happen without the combination of the transfer ban and losing Hazard's presence in the team. So in that respect, perfect time for him to leave (albeit because of screwy reasons).

Devil, I get where you’re coming from with that. But you could have still gone through this had you sold Hazard last summer. Except maybe you’d have a competent striker in the squad to help.

We probably wouldn't be in this season's CL without him last season Darren.
He was instrumental in us getting 3rd place and while he wasn't key to us getting to Baku, he certainly gave us the edge in a final that may not have gone our way without him!

Agreed. If we were going to pick a season not to have Hazard it's probably this one when we have both Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic ready to emerge and develop in a season where little is expected.

I personally think that if it is a pressure, it's one that's been bought on by ourselves as a club.
As I see it the pressure is something that has built over many seasons and managers. It's something that if done properly shouldn't have compromised the functionality of the team, it's not unrealistic to identify and integrate at least two from the academy every couple of years.
They either make it or get moved on and make way for the next candidate. We're now in a position of having to fast track more than we'd like at one time, to make up short comings in a squad that needed surgery two years ago.
I think that Mount, James and CHO are all going to be very good players but we won't see the full potential of them this season hence, the pressure on them to produce now, as I see it.
