No we don't. I'm still one of the few Liverpool fans that doesn't hate Sterlingand still love him as a footballer.
Kane is easily top 5 strikers in the world. Top 5 player though?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh, I just wonder what leads you to rate B Silva over Sterling?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like them both but still can't help feeling Sterling wouldn't be in this conversation if he didn't play for city.
Cannot think of another player who's made to look better than he really is because of the quality of those around him and the fluidity of the system they play. Take him out of that side are they weaker... No, add him back for either Sane or Mahrez, are they that much stronger ?... Hard to say..... Cant say that about the likes of VVD, Ronnie, Kane, Kante, Messi, Salah etc
Ronaldo has made Juve worse tbh.

Interesting point, but isn't that due to the strength of City's squad? How many players in there team would you say weaken the side significantly when not playing?
Lewandowski is probably the best striker in the world.

Exactly... Unlike Teams like United and Chelsea the balance and overall strength of that squad has been brilliantly constructed and obviously the way Pep coaches helps. Of course it helps having all that money. I just think with sterling that hes great player but its the fact he plays for them that takes him up another level. I think he could play for almost anyone else and while considered an excellent player would not be considered one of the worlds best. I think this is part of the reason City players might not get put forward for the worlds biggest individual awards.... Its all about the team
Sterling would be much better for England if we had a midfield.

Personally I'd say that's slightly unfair. Every player will be better with quality around them or players that are on the same wavelength but Sterling is an incredibly intelligent footballer. You could see it from the moment he came into the Liverpool first team, he played as a winger, one of 3 up top, in the hole behind the strikers in a diamond and even right wing back. Each position he played with discipline and an understanding of what the team needed from him in that role.
I just think he's improving year on year. He's still only 24 and is entering his 8th season as a first team player at a big club, his end product both in terms of goals and interplay in the final third are getting to levels that few can match IMO. And theoretically he's still not at his peak!
Personally I'd put him above Kane as England's best player.I think I'd make my top 5:
Messi, Ronaldo (still a big game player), Mbappe, Sterling, Salah
I appreciate Mbappe plays in a slightly inferior league but his goal record last season is better than Neymar has done there and up there with anything Zlatan did (goals per game). Think think he's an electric player.
VVD, I just struggle to include more defensively minded players in top 5's. Same with Kante a couple of seasons ago, he was tearing it up as a DCM (and I think he'll get back to those levels) but I wouldn't have included him in a top 5.
Sterling > Kane all day long. One helps his team win matches while the other holds his team back.
The 5 players I like to watch the most / everytime I see them I just think "jeez, you're just so facking good" are:
Messi
Kante
Hazard
VVD
Fomerly Dembele (Moussa) but now 1 of KDB, Salah, Mane, Mbappe, some I've missed.
Also Marcelo. Just love watching him play even though he's not the best LB in the world.

Lewandowski is probably the best striker in the world.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Couple of years perhaps but from what I hear (podcasts) / read, he's declining. He's still scoring at an excellent rate but all around game isn't where it used to be and he's regularly disappointing in the big games.
General assumption seems to be Bayern are looking for the replacement and when he seemed to put out the feelers for a big move last year, there didn't seem to be takers.
As long as City & Pep keep failing in the CL, Sterling will probably always fall short in most people's opinion.
Remember City were a VAR goal aside from Sterling scoring arguably his most important goal of his career up to that point.
Could've been a whole different story for him.
Put it this way... Id love Sterling at Spurs but i wouldnt expect him to be anything like as good as he is now because of the sum of the parts around him
I would rate Kane higher as he's proven to be a bl00dy good player in a team thats a long way from being great. Kane is one of the few (perhaps the only player) mentioned here who doesn't play for one of the superpowers/perenial winners
Salah is a confidence player. He would flop worse than Coutinho if put into a high pressure environment at Barca or Real and fans got on his back if they lost one game. Sterling too probably
Pretty hard to do a top five but Mane wouldn't be near mine.

In the season we came second and Sterling was probably our most influential and player in Jan-April. And that was when he was a teenager and Suarez was playing at an incredible level.
If he went to Spurs I'd expect him to be superb. Same with KdB, they're both exceptional players.

I could understand someone not putting Mane in their top 5 but to suggest he wouldn't be anywhere near is interesting.
Who would you put ahead of him over the last 12 months?

To be far, based on the last 12 months he comes close, as De-Bruyne, Neymar and Kane have have had injury issues!

Kane is capable of producing a moment of magic from the penalty spot at any time. Has to be in there.

Messi
Ronaldo
Neymar
Hazard
De Bruyne
Think this shows how weird it was Modric getting the Ballon was btw

Take him out of that side are they weaker... No, add him back for either Sane or Mahrez, are they that much stronger ?... Hard to say..... Cant say that about the likes of VVD, Ronnie, Kane, Kante, Messi, Salah etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Personally I'd say that's slightly unfair.

Fair points... not disputing the fact he's a great player just not 100% convinced

Messi

Mbappe
Sterling
VVD
Hazard
To be far, based on the last 12 months he comes close, as De-Bruyne, Neymar and Kane have have had injury issues!

Kane is capable of producing a moment of magic from the penalty spot at any time. Has to be in there.
