Lukaku: United treated me badly

Iceland and Switzerland are hardly fodder, Iceland especially are renowned for being a difficult team to score against

Lukaku bulked up stupidly for the World Cup, didn’t trim down and looked completely unfit all season. His first touch is appalling, and yes he scores goals against dross, but he’s utterly useless against anyone half decent.

His comments are appalling. As soon as ole saw the above and put him on the bench, he started making noises about wanting to leave. The fact we got so much money for him is a stroke of luck.

This is just about the long and short of it.

Here he is, boasting about scoring goals against Switzerland and Iceland, but scoring against fodder is his thing. I’ve seen Belgium play without Lukaku, they’re a better team without having to carry him and his many limitations.
————
Why don’t they start without him then?

Exactly. It was such a stupid comment. The guy is their all time top goal scorer and helped them become the third best side in the world. Scored 48 goals in 82 games and will likely retire with 70+ international goals.

People keep going on about how he only scores against rubbish sides but most of the points you get in a season come against those ones. And Lukaku can score in big games. Did for Everton. Sadly we never set up correctly for him - he may well get that at Inter and if they do I’m sure they’ll get dozens of goals a season from him.

That summer we signed him I was much more keen for us to get Morata. It's a fairly damning indictment that I still don't think it's clear-cut we made the right choice.

He wasn't terrible but he lacked the smart movement and subtle touch that most of us would want in a Man Utd striker. He struck me as decent human being though and I wish him the best of luck at Inter.

I think MEN user MickyFinn put it well:
"My impression of Lukaku is that he lacked self awareness, always had an over inflated ego and a falsely high opinion of his own ability, he’s going a long way to proving that with these comments.

--------------------------

I agree with this.

At the end of the day he wasn't good enough for the style we wanted to play under Ole (which is not like Belgium from what I've seen).

He also has no evidence that the rumours came from the club. He doesn't know.

Trash player. Won’t be missed.

So he claims he was singled out and then names two other players, one of whom has been possibly the worse signing in the clubs history.

Bit harsh on pogba...

It is clear though that you made the correct choice from those 2.

Neither would have been better though.

Lukaku walked into his local Burger King and said "Give me a whopper"
The assistant replied "your first touch is amazing"

Hard to have any sympathy for him. He’s a mentally and technically weak footballer with a poor attitude and fitness. Most of the criticisms levelled at him are of his own making. You can tell he spent a lot of years living in Liverpool with the chip he has on his shoulder.

he eats lots of burger king that is why he has a belly. the burger king is in his house. that is the joke. did you get it?

it's fine to admit sometimes if you did not understand a joke. i think it went over your head.

No need to explain - it definitely didn’t go over my head. Just showing my appreciation for brilliant comedy.

Lingard should be seen in the same vein as O'Shea and Fletcher or Park. Good squad player or water carrier type. The issue is that he gets to play far too much due to not having better players or players suited to the role required.

This is also a good read regarding Lukaku.
