Give Lo Celso a start. Why not ? We need to get him playing

posted on 23/8/19

Tough to drop Lamela, he's done well in the two games. I'd probably start him and then bring Son on to terrorise them when they're knackered.

Would b a good game for Lo Celso debut, especially with NDombele out...

Lamela doesnt do it for me as a starter not long term, should be used as a squad player, if he keeps starting he will get his inevitable injury and we wont see him again for the rest of the season.

Lo Celso is a difficult one. From Poch's comments it looks unlikely he'll be playing. He had extended holidays and still needs to work up his fitness and such.

Too soon IMO. Barely had a pre-season, and players need to be properly drilled for the way we play. Poch says so himself.

If we start him too early and he plays poorly, his confidence is shot and it's an uphill struggle from there.

Totally agree. Arsenal throw in Ceballos straight int a match and he gets 2 assists. For some reason we always have this softly softly approach to new signings like they are babies. its not like we’ve got much to show for this measured approach so why continue....I say throw him in. He’s played against Barcelona and Real Madrid in arguably a worse team (Real Betis)

Think Poch is being a bit sly. Lo Celso came on against Man City even if just for a cameo. So Lo Celso’s mintiest should increase gradually.

Exactly. I never understand this rubbish about slowly easing in players. If we signed Lionel Messi last week, would we be easing him in ? I’m not saying Lo Celso is Messi by the way but my point still stands. If you are a good player, then you should make some sort of impact regardless of wether you integrated in the playing style. With our injuries and now NDombele injured, it’s a perfect opportunity for GLC. Play him ffs.

Rodri has gone straight into the City team, Ceballos straight into the Arsenal team. I’m not convinced about players needing to get up to speed physically with the way we play as we don’t play at anywhere near the same intensity as we did back in 15/16 or 16/17. But we do have the luxury of not having to rush him in if we don’t need to, do whatever Poch thinks best is fine with me, just keen to see him play - don’t think he touched the ball against City

Who are you dropping though? We have Sissoko who was our second best player last season, along with Winks who has become a very important part of the team, with Eriksen, Son, Lucas and Lamela all to consider. These are all players that have had a full pre-season and are fully fit.

Will Spurs ever get a weekend when all their players are fit. Tanguy Ndombele has sustained a minor thigh injury during training and is unavailable this weekend.

HTF can so many of our players get injured during training?

Honestly, every other team has brought players and they are playing. Lo Celso should be ready now. He needs to start.

Absolutely Don, totally nonsense, this easing them in. He has been at the club for nearly a month now, how much time does he need to settle in.

Winks get dropped for me mate, not done enough in either of our two games to warrant a start. I never believe you can have both Winks and Sissoko in the team at the same time anyway, very negative.

Winks or Sissoko mate. Why do we need 2 defensive type midfielders when we are playing Newcastle at home ? Sissoko and Winks as important as they are, will not get us goals. We need to go and attack Newcastle, so let’s give Lo Celso a run.
