I don't expect two weeks into the season to see four new players all unavailable. I doubt I am alone.

One of those players is available
One is out on loan
One has a *MINOR INJURY*

You're ridiculous

This is ridiculous.

Clarke was never bought for this season, so irrelevant.

Ndombele was bought early for a club record fee, had pre season with us, has a goal and an assist to his name in two PL matches. He has a minor thigh niggle so will sit this weekend out.

Lo Celso was at the CopaAmerica all summer, so the point at which we bought him was irrelevant as he would still have had to finish up there, then have a break. He’s fit and training with the squad, but has only been with us 2 weeks. We could’ve bought him in May, and he’d still have only been with us 2 weeks.

Sessegnon has a hamstring injury. We knew that. He’s a 19 year old with a high ceiling that could be with us for 10 years, should we have not bought him because he was gonna miss the first 5 or 6 games of this season? Of course not.

Pull yourselves together.

Poch said Lo Celso is a long way from being ready, so that in my book is being unavailable. All the other new players are unavailable Sunday.

Sandy is right to "complain". He wants us to win something before he goes to Paradise.
Hopefully its THIS season!
We were damned lucky to get a point from City.
One or two more injuries and that kind of luck won't happen again.

So what would you prefer sandy?

Sign someone who is ok, no more, let’s say a 6/10 but who is fit for the first few games of the season but will only ever offer you average performance

Or

Sign someone with the potential to be really decent, say 8 or 9 / 10, but who will take a month to get match ready and suit our style of play?

The season is nine months long, not three games, and Lo Celso has been bought for the season and hopefully many more. Same with Sess. We don’t sign players for short term, we did that and got Ryan Nelson and Saha.

NDombele isn’t even worth the conversation because he got injured - entirely unavoidable.

Just have patience. The squad didn’t need re-inventing, just tweaking.

Damned wrong!
Both our first string CBs are over 30. And one of them is very unhappy right now, and the other may still leave.
Our top inventive midfielder wants away now.
And we still don't have a decent RB.
And the top class LB we do have is also injury-prone and wanting to quit football altogether.
And injury-prone Kane sorely needs backup.

That's not a "tweak" FGS, its a damned full revamp.

Another thing, Sandy .......
we should have done the Dybala deal.
Then he could have pulled a hamstring first time out too.
Instead, he's going to do a full season at PSG!

Absolutely no reason to think Lo Celso is going to be a worldy. Took ages to get him over the line, then only a loan deal, then he is nowhere to be seen. I am getting bad vibes already that Poch has seen him, and don't really fancy him now. Saying he is a long way from starting is hardly a vote of confidence.

He did not impress at the Copa A.
But neither did the whole Argentine team TBF.

Just enjoy the Winks/ Sissoko midfield 👍

God knows who plays at the back

Winks Sissoko

Moura Eriksen Son

Kane

posted on 23/8/19

That’s pretty good.

If Eriksen can give us 90 more mins

At least with injuries, the team just picks itself.

Don’t have to worry about Lo Celso being any good or not.

Which Lamela will show up

And what position NDombele can be shoe horned into

The combination of negativity and ignorance about the way modern football works on this thread is astounding.

Poch won’t have scouted Lo Celso and chased him all summer to watch him train for a week and decide he ‘doesn’t fancy him’. He’s a 23 year old lad who’s just moved to another country and hasn’t trained with us properly yet. He will get phased in. We still have Eriksen that can play that position. Lest we forget Poch did bring GLC on against City. The guy scored and assisted 16 goals in La Liga last season, he’ll be fine.

It wasn’t a case of money first, football second in signing him. He wasn’t available for pre season regardless of when we signed him, due to the Copa America. We could’ve signed him in January, and his summer timeline would’ve still been the same.

The loan deal helps Betis save money on what they owe PSG, and helped us get the deal over the line. We are obligated to buy him provided we get European football - so unless you expect us to finish outside the top 7 you can confidently say he’s a Spurs player.

Really don’t get the negativity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I get your post Ace, but Lo Celso was not the only player engaged in competition during the summer, yet seems to be just about the only player not up and running. All the Liverpool front three were heavily involved in Competitive football in the summer, but we're up and running almost from the off. absolutely no excuses why Lo Celso should in Poch's words be miles off starting.
